I may consider one....
What's that US company (begins with an R, iirc) that offer custom towers of a more 'modern' variety? If you could get some of those in stock, I'd probably jump at the chance haha
Steve
[ED - found it] This is what I was on about. Still, don't think I could stretch that far for another A1200 tower project. *ponders*

| The problem is, that even though it have awesome discount and it dropped the price nicely, the case REMAINS to be too expensive. It is going to cost me $97.21 before shipping and handling for a case...too expensive. Second what with SAM coming to tuition I doubt now people are going to bother upgrading or towering their A1200 as often as it was before when they had no choice. | Were as here in the UK £60 is not a lot of money for a PC case I paid £150 for my current one plus another £150 for a good quality PSU. But then I am happy to pay more for a quality custom case (http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=209&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=64).
For example the when I asked about the price of the current batch of minimig cases this is the answer I reserved:
“It's a bit more expensive than the white one, because the factory has to change the pigment (plastic colour) and tooling. This is £79.95 + p&p (Recorded Delivery within the U.K.). All prices in GBP.”
That maybe expensive but my Silverstone mini-itx case cost a similar amount of money the other year (£150 including PSU and P+P ) custom manufactured in the EU. If you want something a bit different you have to be willing to pay for it http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=lc09&area= and when the new OS4.1 motherboards start shipping I will buy another similar quality case.
My computers are mostly quality one offs that I will keep for many years and as such I am quite happy to pay the required money to make them look good as well.
But as they say the choice is yours and I am happy with my eye-tech mk4 tower even if it is not quite as fancy as my other computers it still looks factory manufactured not bogged together and out of place with my other computers in my den.
edit: what you have to remember as an Amiga user you are likely to keep computer for a good number of years unlike lost PC user. Last edited by Dwyloc on 04-Oct-2008 at 01:32 AM.

| True, true. I don't disagree at all with what you said. I did not know AMD is making socket 940! Damn is my computer outdated or what?! |

| A few points on this tower:
It features a completely custom cut backplate made for the Amiga 1200. This backplate of course is expensive to manufacture.
It takes a few hours per tower to modify this for use with the A1200. If we reduced the price further, we would be making a loss on the tower. Therefore it is not correct to compare this tower with PC counterparts that are made in hundreds of thousands in China. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS

| To be honest, that tower is anything but esthetically pleasing. Why anyone would want to replace their original Amiga 1200 case is beyond me. _________________ That'll Put Marzipan In Your Pie Plate, Bingo 💻 Pro-Amiga, 🌍 Pro-Globalism, 🍅 Pro-Vegan, 🛦 Pro-NATO & 🇪🇺 Pro-Joint EU Defense Intervention Initiative

Perhaps this would be something to put my mess of an A1200 in.
But first, questions: Can it take a BlizzardPPC with BVision with extra coolers (15-25mm) on the 060 and PPC?
I also have a Prelude1200, PCMCIA network card, FastATA'99 controller and stuff. Will that work? Is there place for all this at the back, or bottom, or however the mobo is placed? _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

That isn't going to happen in this market. Still, I would be prepared to pay more if a a more modern tower (black/sliver etc like Revanche LLC provide) with a modified backplate was on offer. I think the DBox tower from Elbox is a bit of a rip-off to be honest (from what I've read). Just my opinion
@amigakit Any chance of getting some of those towers/backplates in? I wouldn't want to ship one from the US haha

| hello,
It's a great tower case IMHO. buy with eyes closed without problems.
I have a great DBOX tower and my A1200 work perfectly with and was not the case with the micronik1 I have used previously . _________________ BTW, what you have done for the amiga today ????
