I highly recommend Frying Pan. It's a very good burner. I use it to backup dvds, create audio cds from mp3's, and put .iso files on discs.

How does it compare with MakeCD? I have been having troubles with MakeCD of late (it says I only have 32 MB RAM when I have 512 MB no matter how I adjust the cache).

MakeCD is very good also, but it's too tricky to understand. Frying Pan is very easy to use, with just a few clicks.

I can only agree. It's an excellent program. The docs could do with updating but still highly recommended software.

Not true! I use MakeCD to burn DVD media. DVD-R and DVD-RW only. It probably breaks with more than 4GB but I have burned discs with >3GB.

With DVD-RW, you have erase the full disc to re-use it, which is a pain.

The display gets messed up because it's not made for such large numbers.

DVD-R/-RW discs written with MakeCD can be read on Windows XP boxes and on my little portable DVD player. My Linux box doesn't recognize them, so there must be something out of spec with them, but MakeCD is perfectly fine for backups IMHO.

I use it on an Amithlon system. I don't have OS4 yet.
