It is a good job. Thanks!

I have one problem here (A1+OS41) :

When I try to load a .rtf file i got an error message indicating that a problem with font glyph... CW has taken all my system .ttf fonts.

Another question maybe for improvement: is it possible to accelerate the choice of the font ? and maybe could they be alphabeticaly sorted?

An OpenOffice compatibility is really a good news :)

Nicola

I have absolutely nothing against MorphOS. I just have no compatible hardware to develop on. People have reported that earlier versions of CW worked to some extent on MorphOs if they used the OS4emu thingy majingy.

I ran into a few problems myself, most likely not related to the hardware as that's on the A1-XE/G4.

I've posted crashlogs and explaination on depot.

You could just try adding:-
Quote:
assign ADD FONTS:_TrueType SYS:X/FONTS/_TrueType

to your user-startup.

@Unimono
Which RTF file did you load? was it created by CW or another writer?

@AlexC
Cinnamon Writer looks specifically after fonts in fonts:_truetype If you remove this drawer it will not explicitly know where to look. If you follow the advice from Swoop Im confident you will resolve the problem

I tried it on my A1+OS4.0 and it runs (as the previous version)...

could you add bubble help or similar to the toolbar icons ? or even give the options to have text below icons because the meaning of some icons are not obvious to me...

Anyway good work

@Templario
I simply dont know. The Sam and the Xe is two very different machines and I only have access to my own Xe. I would guess that what would run smoothly on a Xe could cause delays on a Sam and vice versa for other instructions. Please describe what actions are slow, are CW always slow or is it when you do something special. You can either write here or pm me

@Lionstorm
Im surprised nobody have mentioned the manual that is now included with CW. In this all the functionality of CW is explained and there is even illustrations for all the buttons and how to work the different menues... Well.. Guess its a very amiga specific syndrome not to care about the manual

I have tried to print this off several times, with both AmiGS and AmiPDF, and cpu usage goes to 100%, and takes absolutley ages to print one page. I will have to copy it to a usb stick, and print it on my laptop.
From what I have seen the manual looks good, but at only 840k I dont know why it takes and age to print.

IMHO unless you wrote your own font rendering engine, that shouldn't be necessary, as you can use AvailFont() with the AFF_OTAG flag to get a list of all scalable fonts. And there's no guarantee that TrueType fonts will always be stored in FONTS:_truetype. For that matter since OS4 some scalable fonts are also stored in FONTS:_GhostScript, but applications don't have to care, diskfont.library handles it for them.

That can't work:
assign ADD FONTS:_TrueType SYS:X/FONTS/_TrueType
(the assign name has to be "something:" there can't be anything after the colon)

If you replace the system() calls to external commands with OS functions from the start you'll probably save yourself a lot of headaches and work later.

It's great to see this news item generate so many posts. In the past software news has generated very few responses, unless it is regarding an update to OS4 or MorphOS.

Hopefully this is something we'll see more of as more users get their hands on new systems.

The office compatibility is related to the RTF format.
