| I installed GQView and it's a nice program, unfortunatly it doesnt work with Pentax RAW (pef) files, or at least it doesnt work with k100d files, it show garbled images.
It doesn't work also with my Olympus C5050Z RAW (orf) files |

I think its a "force upgrade" syndrome. My newphew got a new Nikon, replacing an older model for XMas. To everyone's dismay the .nef RAW files from it were not processible by any of his software and the camera box did not say what the NEW minimum requirements were.
Of course it turned out that you are expected to pay for the latest upgrade (not cheap).
We were lucky enough to find and to be willing to use command line converters to do the job even though we were warned that the Nikon MetaData would be carried along, but nothing from it was likely to be processible (at present). Presumably until the new ".nef" metadata is reverse engineered or whatever.
Those cameras are expensive enough without being subjected to the "specialized ink cartridge" scam.
