Software News   Software News : AmiLoudspeaker for AmigaOS
   posted by ssolie on 21-Jan-2009 18:38:25 (2671 reads)
An updated version of AmiLoudspeaker is now available from OS4Depot for AmigaOS 4.x users.

This is a significant update as it includes new loudspeaker testing options for measuring closed box Q as well as fine tuning your vented designs.

- Changed printing routine to only print debug on failure.
- Removed 10% overvolume from vented box dimensions.
- Increased accuracy of driver parameters.
- Added Qms and Qes driver parameters.
- Added Closed Tuning and Vented Tuning tabs for testing and fine tuning your loudspeakers.
- Compiled with GCC 4.2.4.

AmiLoudspeaker is best used in conjunction with The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook by Vance Dickason or a similar high quality reference.

Oh that is so cool!!

I have been thinking about making such a program but never got around to it. Thankyou for saving me the work (and probably doing it better)

After a short test drive I only have two wishes:
1. The dB/Hz curve going down to 10Hz so the 20Hz line can be clearly visible for those a bit extra large subwoofers

2. Meassurement (also) in SI unit instead of those obscure and obsoleted bodyparts so the rest of the world can enjoy this the fullest...

@Kicko

It's a tool for calculating speaker enclosures for DIY'ers building speakers.

It is very important that an enclosure (box) matches a given driver (i.e. speaker element) or the bass response will be unpleasent. Each (non-budget) driver comes with a set of Tiele-Small parameters (Qms, Qts, Vas etc) that you enter into this program and get a curve and a box volume, port (bass reflex) size etc. Really nice, especially with that frequency curve it draws
