I agree completely, in-fact this should be the standard for all news posting about applications.
I for one am new to the amiga scene and 'more often than not' do not know what most of the applications actually are so most of the news is wasted on me as it would be to anyone else that is new to the amiga scene. (I do know what mplayer is though as it's also popular in the linux community).
