| Did anybody with coder skills ever gave a look at the toaster source code? Mean, how is complicated to do what the rewuirements ask? how much of the code is in assembler and how much of it is in much portable C/C++?
Ok, i just checked digipaint and is written in assembler, in short it requires to be rewritten in C and then ported for the new amigas and AROS, definitely a damn long job...
How actual is the toaster GUI and how can be improved for a modern workflow? Plus, what is the license under which the OVT will be released?

Bad example, DigiPaint was only included for historical purposes and it is all ASM. No active bounties are available for DigiPaint. Other parts of the code are written in C, like the ToasterCG for example. The GUI is also written in C. Now that Amiga OS 4.1, MorphOS 2.3 & AROS are pretty mature applications are desperately needed to fuel demand for these operating systems. Last edited by DiscreetFX on 21-Aug-2009 at 07:39 AM.

I am not a programmer, but can recognize when stuff is kinda hard to port, and since i downloaded also ToasterCG i confirm that is mostly written in C, just need to be hardware-abstracted.
But, since even in the official forums nobody talk about the OVT files, it was my intention to start some kind of brainstorming on how to use those sources, what has to be done and how.
Among AROS users and supporters, me first would like to see those tools ported, especially now that AROS gained a decent USB support.

| I thought everything is in assembler. If the most important/useful things are C then it shouldn't be difficult to update those parts. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. | Maybe some reality check is needed...
I had a look into the source code and it consists of approx. 50% pure Assembler (and no, its not mixed with other program´s sources, its CG only, as the makefile shows!). Well commented, but Assembler. Additionally, it needs post.library which should be ported to OS4, too. So, porting CG alone is a HUGE task. Lets hope somebody will tackle this for roundabout 400 EUR...

Thanx, this code is a great piece of the Amiga's history and should live on in some form. _________________ Sent from my Quantum Computer.

I would love to see a port of ToasterCG.
I think the amount of the bounty has to grow. The effort of porting is very very big !!!
