@andreas

karoly? is he a hungarian guy? can i ask who is he?

btw will there be updates for desert racing? i must tell you i've tried the demo and while its really a professional looking product, its very polished (one of the best i've seen on amiga) but as a game it sucks badly. its unplayable. its good for a tech demo or for a design demo, but for a game? no thx. i'd like to support commercial amiga games and new developments but i wont buy crap sorry. if you (the coders) can improve the game's playability as the previous posters suggested (improving control and view distanse, maybe bigger res., etc...) then i'll buy the game and surely lot of others will do.
bardos has the chance to became the "mario kart" for amiga - you just need to replace the game engine with something better:) remember xtreme racing? now that was a hell of a good game! make desert racing of bardos as fun as xtreme was and it will be a legend (and a success for you:)

@AndreasM

Thanks for the updated version that runs under OS4 it is nice to see games being updated to run by the original authors rather than requiring 3rd party patches to make them work on new OS versions

Personally, I am happy that they ported a game onto the new Amiga OS.

Looks like it wasn't really. Just bigfixed perhaps.

Unfortunately it was not the likes of Morrowind - elder scrolls 3, or Gothic 2, Or even Warcraft 3.

Are these racing games?

Yes, It's me. I got Flyin'High sources almost two years ago, but many parts were missing (some support libraries). My time is limited to work on it, but it's slowly progressing. The missing parts were mostly rewritten, the rest were adapted to work with recent compilers (GCC, VBCC), instead of StormC, but I'm still fighting with removing the hardware dependent parts. The game play itself is written in 68k assembly, and it depends on some values it reads from CIA timers, and some other registers, and uses them to calculate player behavior and others.

Also it uses a hardware-banging music and sound player, which the port still completely lacks (audio disabled for now). This must be ported to AHI, or to another, already existing playback engine, probably the later, but i haven't decided yet. And as most of the critical parts are in 68k assembly, this port will also be a MorphOS/OS4 "aware" port, but not a PowerPC native one.

But i expect it to fully work on the Efika. Fortunately Christmas season is ahead, so i expect to have plenty of free time...

Already I know that Flyin High don't work on OS4 but if there are people that we have the game and we are interested in one possible patch, well, the author when he will have time will can make it.
But neither is problem if it now is impossible. Not problem.

@Templario
back in the early days of OS4 on the a1 it actually worked...sort of anyway.
the game booted up (no sound though as it was before we got nallepuh etc) and you could start a race but you could not steer/control the car etc (it was before amigainput came out aswell.)

After we got all the stuff and released the os4.0 pre release it didnt work anymore.

Since Chain-Q is working on a patch thats a relif as i don't want another Exodus TLW on my hands again (i honestly worked my ass off in getting that game to run on OS4.x).
(For exodus we added required features to petunia and other stuff (like Cdda support in the a1ide/sii kmod's etc).

luckily the stuff i reported in added support for even more games/apps so all in all that was very good progression although it didn't make all OS friendly games running (like Napalm...among others which actually is quite odd).

I'll buy Flying High again when there is a patch for it :)

@andreasM

thanks for the feedback, i'll invest in the update asap.

cheers

On my SAM440 it crashes right after the intro (Grimreaper). Could be my inexperience but certainly feels a bit disapointing after downloading 200MB +. Hope someone else knows how to get it working?

Greetings,

TAP

Has anyone else tried the demo on a sam440ep under OS4.1?

I have just tried it and for me there are 2 main problems:

1. The in game frame rate is to slow to be playable but the Intro animation and other parts run nicely.

2. Playing on keyboard after completing a race and entering my name into the score board I cant get the demo to continue it dose not recognise my return key to finish entering my name.

So for me I may be able to run the exe under OS4.1 on my sam440ep but you still cant play the game. That is a bit of a pity as even at the low resolution it runs at it looks like it could be quite a fun little racing game.
