Can you re-do the interview now that the X1000 is announced?

thanks

Are you kidding? We learn that MAP isn't SMP for OS4, and that they don't appear to have started on SMP (unless Rogue mis-spoke one word).

Mmm thats a shame... unless of course he was telling a fib so as not to give anything away about MAP. I guess initially OS4 for the X1000 will only make use of a single core, then SMP will follow after?

no SMP support on a dual core system is a bad news...
Hope you're wrong...

@ChrisH

Well, perhaps I have to listen it again.

(and I think I heard that they have had some things ongoing in the background longer, but I was disturbed while listening.... it happens @ work sometimes )

@ChrisH
Actually we learned that SMP is definitively coming, we don't know what he meant with "start" could be that they start now that the Board is announced, or simply that he could not tell because it would have told everybody that they had a multi-core mobo in the works.

The interview should be re-done now (unless Rogue wants to clarify this point here).

@ChrisH

i'd rather say that he confirmed that smp is an important target, and when asked for details (when/how) he says he can't really comment. given his cautiousness when choosing the answers he might just not want to have something revealed anything about the map.
(in other words, i don't interpret the answers as a clear "no smp has been started yet")

edit: spelling
edit2: dax beat me to say that...

anyway, considering the specs of this Amiga X1000, for the OS I hope for:

- improved stability (memory protection?)
- SMP
- good drivers for the hardware (especially graphic card)

Interesting interview... Rogue is quite personable -- something that is difficult to pick up on in these forums.

Some tidbits:
- "MAP" is identified as the moniker internally being used by Hyperion
- x86 support sounds like a logistical issue rather than a technical one
- Java appears to be a longer term project
- SMP sounds like it is slated to follow the MAP

Given that this interview was conducted before the AX1000 was announced I sense that it is the MAP.

The map is a broad project that should be summarized as the re-launch of Amiga in its 25th birthday.

This will bring:

1)A new Amiga Computer (no generic mobo this time)

2)Any OS updates from now on will focus on taking full advantage of such HW

NB
As stated many times SAM will also be supported with several updates.

I believe its clear from whats been said that there will be AMP support , at least. Besides, i checked, and this interview is from two months back. Or three, or less, been a while since i checked ;)

Dammnit, Rogue.

Please just have ONE beer, on me!

Nice interview though. It's always nice to hear these guys 'talk'.

Cheers, very much.

But he did not say anything about OS4.1 update 1 aaah..

After 2 years in the dust, i powered up my AmigaOne XE (933 Mhz) again.
(Well, I had to change the CR2032 Battery first ;))

So, while i wait for "MAP" I want the last update ISO hehe

WHEN can i get my hands on it ?

Rogue ?
