News   News : 3DO files for bankruptcy, looking to sell assets
posted by MikeB on 30-May-2003 19:04:25 (3330 reads)
Video game publisher 3DO has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and seeks to sell the company or its assets.

3DO is well-known within the Amiga community as Dave Needle and RJ Mical, two Amiga/Atari-Lynx engineers also designed the 3DO gaming console, which was released in 1994 but failed to catch on. Nowadays 3DO is best known for their 'Heroes of Might & Magic' game series.

3DO's CEO, Mr Trip Hawkins founded in 1982 the biggest game software company worldwide. That same year the name of this company changed from Amazin Software to the well-known Electronic Arts.

What an opportunity for Amiga Inc. to buy out 3DO and start porting Heroes to the amiga.

Sad . Maybe if the M2 had seen the light of day things may have turned out for the better.

This *almost* freaks me out.

I just bought a 3DO yesterday.

Anyway, 3DO were also quite well known for their Army Men-series IIRC.

Don't have one of those yet. Don't have room for much more where I currently live anyway. Will have to wait till I move into something bigger.

It's getting a bit crowded with my near-complete collection of Amigas (don't have an A3000UX, A3000T, 1500 or 4000T), CD32, CDTV, C=64s, C=128, C= SX64, Neo Geo CD, NES, SNES, GBA SP, N64, GC, Sega MS, MD, Nomad, Saturn, DC, Atari 2600-gadgets, Jaguar, Sony PS, PS2, MS Xbox, Goldstar 3DO, Yoko Sportsfun, Powercomputing Powercenter 150, Powerbook 520, 12" Powerbook, Olivetti Quaderno and the rest of the stuff I have lying around that I can't remember right now

@Trezzer

I think you win .

That is one impressive collection. I forgot to add one to my wanted list - the Vectrex! I remember playing on one of those things years (early eighties). Apparently they go for around 400 Australian dollars today .

Hey...

Don't laugh too hard.

I still remember my 3DO.
It was quite a pleasure to use and enjoy.
The games were great for the day.

It also played music cds way back then, and even had the cool flashing lights that danced to the music.

I used to sit there all night just staring at all the colors.

Never will forget my 3DO.
Never will forget how much I paid for it either.

It was...
Shall I say...
On up there.

The only one I'm missing is a 3D0...
