Software News   Software News : New DevPak for AmiDevCpp available.
posted by Heinz on 1-Mar-2010 21:35:21 (1941 reads)
Due to the fast Development on AROS it is time to update the SDKs again.

You can do that now with this release of a new unified DevPak with the Software Development Kits for all AROS flavours.

A DevPak is an archive for header and linker libraries
that can be installed (and uninstalled) with just one click of your mouse.

Direct Download

This DevPak contains the SDK for:

AROS-i386

AROS-x86_64

AROS-ppc

It also contains the updated AROS Development Documentation that can be opened via the Help Menu.

It seems a LOT bigger than previous AROS dev packs. I wonder if it was really such a good idea to put 3 different AROS versions into one dev pack... (I certainly don't want to waste disk space on x86_64 or ppc versions, even if AmiDevCpp supports them.)

Anyway, at least good news that AROS includes have been updated for AmiDevCpp

It contains three SDKs instead of one, so it is probably about three times bigger ;)

I believe that is the most convenient way.
Most Application Developers, that use AmiDevCpp for AROS Development, will happily offer x86, ppc and 64bit binaries to their users, when it is no effort at all.

When Hard disk space was really an issue, you would`nt have installed AmiDevCpp in the first place ;)

I don't think that disk space usage is important at all in 2010. I have 360gb hd, with 270 gb staying empty.

So a few gigs (if at all) for devcpp shouldn't be a problem for anyone.
