| So you have! Slight correction, it lists the version as 1.13.
Now I don't wish to put a downer on this, but I really can't see you getting 300 registrations, that would mean, at a guess, almost 1 in 3 of the entire MorphOS registered users paying for it. It also has a problem with Macs, at least any you'd wish to dual boot, Even on a Peg 2, you can't see ICE file sytems from a OS4.1 install if you've got a dual boot.
And how many people really need partitions/file sizes that SFS can't cope with? _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011

Well, that's kinda normal. Just the same way you can't see JXFS partition on MorphOS. But i didn't see anyone complaining JXFS wasn't MorphOS compatible or that it supported too large files, though. :) |

At least me...
Remember it is only second public version and all MorphOS users can help with bug fixing of this promising filesystem. |

I think most people would like to have a good filesystem, and at this price there isn't much to think about. _________________ Selur erutangis siht

Filingsystems are usually buggy until they have been used by users for a long time... Hence why I'm still on SFS & haven't switched to JXFS yet! (And in fact why I didn't switch from PFS/AFS to SFS until long after it had been out.)
Anyone trying a new filingsystem should only use it for non-important files, or at least keep frequent backups!Last edited by ChrisH on 22-Aug-2010 at 08:52 PM.

| IceFS has been started in 2007, and doesn't have anything to do with PFS3, i think. :)

| Very interesting project you have going on here. I'm looking to get on board the MOS bandwagon in the next couple months, so I'll definitely be paying IFS a visit soon. :)
I didn't know of your IceFileSystem before this posting, so forgive my ignorance. But I'm curious to understand what advantages IceFileSystem has over the standard MorphOS file system that would motivate me to move to it. Note: I did read the features on the IFS website, but wasn't able to quite parse out a pros/cons versus the MorphOS or AmigaOS file systems from that. And where would you put IFS on the maturity spectrum? Ie. is it in a beta state or production?
Thanks, Jingof _________________ Vic-20, C-64, C-128 Amiga 1000, 3000 AmigaOne X1000

Serious issues are still being reported, like there seems to a be a freezing issue (no seriously now..). It is being looked at. As for the reasons to move, I'll just say if you are happy with SFS, stay with SFS :) After all it has been in use for a long time now. _________________ Selur erutangis siht

I'm sure someone will correct me here, but..
Aside from R/W Ext2/3 and read-only NTFS support under MorphOS, we have no 64-bit filesystem available. The maximum filesizes supported by the existing AmigaOS filesystems (SFS/PFS/FFS) are (less-than)2GB (actually (less-than)4GB, but due to +/- signing, only 2GB effectively). Partition sizes are also limited (although less drastically).
Obviously, in the age of 7+GB DVD rips, let alone Blu-ray, this is a limiting factor...
This filesystem will free us from those limitations (after a few bug-fixes ). Last edited by Boot_WB on 24-Aug-2010 at 07:00 PM.

SFS2 (AmigaOS 4) supports files bigger than 4 GB. OS4.1 introduced new JXFS filesystem for big files and partitions. However, these filesystems aren´t supported by MorphOS (there is probably 68k version of SFS2 in OS4 classic).

You can download SFS2 for m68k-amigaos here: http://strohmayer.org/
Diskimage.device and ISO-O-Matic have had support for large files on m68k-amigaos when used with SFS2 for a very long time using libdos64 that is available on that page. |

| SFS2 wont give you large file support under MorphOS. DOS packet API used in OS4 is different from MorphOS. The same applies to 64bit dos.library, too, which have different API design and ideas. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook
