Really great looking icons!

I love this image especially as it represents current state of AmigaOS

http://www.masonicons.info/resources/disk.jpg

And others examples are great. I love the way Dockie icons are looking.

Now new Amiga just needs just a bit better default wallpapers :)

How does one get these working under OS3.9?
I installed PowerIcons but these icons (unlike the example PowerIcons) are only rendering in 4 colours.
It would be better to convert them to GlowIcon format so everyone can use them, is there a utility available to do this?

Not possible, as it doesn't run on 680x0 nor x86. And it is hardly "working under OS3.9" if I'm running OS4.1 is it...

If someone publishes explicitly "icons for AmigaOS4.x" you can't really expect them to "work" under AmigaOS3.x/Haiku/Windows whatever. Martin is the official artist of the OS4 developement team, so what do you expect?

Nevertheless you *can* actually use them with OS3.9 by installing AfA_OS. BTW: MorphOS2.x is able to show up with OS4 icons also (and vice versa).

OK, so it looks like I might have to write a conversion utility.
Therefore: What's the difference, on a technical level, between these icons and PowerIcons (or, better yet, between these and GlowIcons, since that is the target format)?
Is there documentation for this file format?

AFAIK the OS4.x icon system is an extension to the OS3.x glow icon structure - but I might be wrong here. If I were you, I would try to contact Bernd Roesch, who incorporated this into the OS3.x Afa_OS already (i.e. here: http://amiforce.de/members.php?mode=profile&userid=155 - he is active here at AW.net as well...). Nevertheless a tool for conversion of OS4.x icons for OS3.x would be very nice - I did some of my icon work under OS3.9 and had to use AfA_OS and some manual magic to extract and access the actual image data. So count me in as a potential user...
