that would be wonderful if that turns out to be the case.
and i'm also glad that the SAM460ex is finally shipping, although saddened to see the OS is still considered a 'beta' version after having been in testing for some months. nonetheless a hearty congrats to acube, hyperion, and the OS4 developers. next up: the A1X1000.

glad to hear it. noticed the initial offering price is $1020 USD, including OS4.1u2 (beta). given that, if we already have an existing license, and we wish to replace our existing SAM and replace it with a 460, can we simply transfer that license somehow and be discounted the cost of the OS4 license included in the price?
also: any news on a SAM460ex 'complete system' from you chaps? specs, price, case, etc.?

| Sorry thats not possible as the SAM460 AmigaOS 4.1 is not the same as previous SAM models.

| Nice. 1000 euros for OS and the board, almost half price of X1000
We will see the comparison of performance when X1000 is realised,
but at present moment it is the most powerful oS4 system!
Hope to see more tests, news, experiences, YouTube videos ...

| As explained:
a) licence is per one computer
b) as known from before, Hyperion is selling different version for each board,
including EP460 and probably X1000 versions once availiable.
So, NO transfers possible. Now or in the future.

| ok, hypothetically speaking for now, how would I go about installing my M-Audio Revolution sound card and Catweasel MK4+ pci cards into this new Sam460ex?
also, if I already have a HD configured and working fine with my Samflex and choose to upgrade the MB to the 460ex can I do this without having to redo all my partitions etc.?

yikes. this is going to get expensive. 
oh well, i guess this means i won't be ditching my SAM when the X1000 ships. to all those grabbing up a SAM460ex, let us know about the performance, especially on the video side.

I don't see much of an issue with not being able to transfer AmigaOS 4.x licenses between boards. If you sell the board, the next person will also want AmigaOS 4.x, so you might as well sell it as a complete package. If you don't sell it, then you still need a license for that machine, in which case you wouldn't want to transfer it.

all valid points. it's just in my case i was planning on turning one into a dedicated linux box and not running amigaOS on it. but, again, that's not what 98% of people would want, so, i think your point stands.
i am very much looking forward to using modern graphics kit, and, hopefully soon, a 3D stack that is able to take advantage of it. i really appreciate all the work on drivers you have done thus far!
