@Vox

Do me a favor and post the source.
There is nothing on the Amiwest site you linked to about this.

Stretching the truth a bit, as Amigans already have laptop/netbook options. Still, this is a great development for MorphOS, I'm sure you'll have plenty of interest at Amiwest.

Hey! As an Amigan I've been waiting for years to try MorphOS. Unfortunatley MorphOS doesn't support my Amiga Hardware.
I would love a portable version, but I'm not going to splash out on a powerbook and morphos, without being able to try it first.

Huh? Clearly a PowerBook is an Apple laptop, not an Amiga laptop.

I can't wait until MorphOS 3.0 is out the door! Powerbook support is cool and I want to see Power Mac support increased.

Source is MorphZone forum

Seems AmigaDave will do the presentation alone.

Yes, sadly this is not part of official programme as
it`s user presentation.

However, it was several time mentioned before that MOS 3 will be presented
in AW.net forums and people wanted it as separate news

Will not attend Amiwest as its too far away

Good luck and enjoy!

Sorry, but when I sit in front of it and it works like I expect from an Amiga, it's blazing fast, and the pricetag puts a grin on my face, I can't care less what company assembled it together originally, and which logo it holds.

amigadave only confirms he's going to show MorphOS 2.x on the big screen in that thread on MorphZone. Where have you found the info about MorphOS 3.0 being shown?

MorphOS 2.X does not support PowerBook. MorphOS 3.0 introduces PowerBook support.

@redrumloa

Second page post (#30) only mentions doing a demo of MorphOS 2.x on the big screen and Q&A at table afterwards.

True. In fact he speaks only of MOS, but its more likely to be last 2.x then 3.x beta
here

So, must be me rushing based on Cheesesgate optimism here and here

Please change the news to MOS 2.x until proven otherwise.

Sadly, none is included in official programme.

Current 2.7 version doesn`t support PowerBook and that is a 3.x feature,
so we are all a bit confused. Could be, should be ... we`ll know afterwards
(or in fact those who will be there will know)

AFAIK Amigadave has a friendly relationship with the morphos guys so its entirely possible Morph 3 will be shown.

@realize

I'm not questioning it, I just think it needs confirmation. Would be cool if he is able to show it. Most likely one of the highlights of the show, IMO.

What ever minor contact I have with a few members of the MorphOS Dev. Team, I maintain by not doing things like making announcements that are not true on forum sites. So next time you decide to post a News Item anywhere that is about what I am doing, please contact me first, or make sure you have all of your facts exactly right.

I will not be presenting MorphOS3.0 at the AmiWest 2011 Show (unless something drastic changes between now and next week).

I will be presenting MorphOS2.7 registered running on my G4 PowerMac & Efika and will demonstrate a special "unreleased" version of 2.x that has been modified to run on my G4 PowerBook, that might, or might NOT, have some feature(s) that will be included in MorphOS3.0 when that is finally finished and released with support for a few models of the G4 PowerBook.

As everyone knows, the MorphOS Dev. Team members are very busy and only work on new versions of MorphOS in their spare time, so I try not to bother them as much as possible, or ask for any favors or special treatment. I just offer to present MorphOS at each year's AmiWest Show in what ever form or way that they would like. Last year they provided me with an ISO of MorphOS2.x that could boot on my G4 PowerBook, but due to many things that I won't go into detail about right now, I did not do an official AmiWest Show presentation of it in front of the whole group of show attendees. I am making up for my lack of performance last year with more effort to present MorphOS in a good light at this year's AmiWest 2011 Show.

Eliyahu has been kind enough to help out by paying for the AmiWest Show display table rental fee (thanks again), and Paul Rezendes (aka Acill) is going to the show with me and hopefully will be assisting me with the presentation and answering questions/doing demonstrations at our table, as he has many more years of experience using MorphOS than I do.

So, although I do appreciate your enthusiasm in posting this news item on AW.net, I don't want anyone risking my tenuous relationship with the few MorphOS Dev. Team members, by posting incorrect information about me or them.

I will do my best this year to present MorphOS in a way that is both interesting and entertaining to most of the people that are attending the AmiWest 2011 Show. If you, or anyone has any ideas that will help me accomplish my goal, contact me via email at Earthlink.net.

I know it is only a week away, but I strongly encourage everyone to make the effort to attend AmiWest. It is a great show and opportunity to visit with vendors and other Amiga users. For the children that feel a need to throw in comments about Mac hardware running MorphOS is not an Amiga, grow up.

Hope to see you all at the AmiWest 2011 Show.

Edit: Webmaster, is there a way to edit this news item to correct it's content?

@Swoop, I hope you can find someone that owns one of the G4 PowerBooks that will be supported by MorphOS3.0 when it comes out, so you can download and try out the time limited free version and see for yourself how great MorphOS is and how nice it will be to have a laptop that can run MorphOS finally. By providing free time limited versions of each MorphOS release, it makes it very easy to try it out before you buy it.

now amigadave don't be bashfull. You will do a great job and i'm sure the mos team appreciate you demonstrating mos to an american audience. Besides it seem to be semantics at play here. As far as i know you will be demonstrating a development version of morphos on the powerbook, since the mos team cancelled mos 2.x and have stated that their internal versioning system hasfor a long time been 3. It is common sense to call what you will be showing a development or beta version of 3.0

Thank you very much for the clarification, and sorry for the incovinience.

If its possible, Zerohero, could you please change the news accordingly to what AmigaDave said. At least we all know what to expect of MOS presentation.
