Announcement   Announcement : Amiga Mania #3
posted by Reynolds on 16-Dec-2011 5:56:09 (5036 reads)
We did it once again in 2011:

I know that it still hungarian only, but important to share that we're continously searching for the solution to translate, to reach a wider userbase.

I'll share update(s) later regarding this.

Merry Christmas! :)

K-L:

Actually we`re selling it printed :)

Our community melted up almost completely, so around 20-22 active users remained, sadly. :(

And what is the price of the magazine? Demand is rather small and it is in full colour.

The current price of the printed version is 2000 HUF, which is around 6.5 EUR (plus shipping), but that's only possible, because everyone (even the printshop, with Amigans working there) works on it for free. Only the paper and ink has to be paid, basically. (Big thumb up for the guys making this possible!)

However, if there would be an English version, and it would be printed in higher than a few dozen items, the price would go higher, because then it would be problematic to keep the printing work free, I guess.

Thanks for the information. In Poland PPA magazine is printed pretty much the same. I think nowadays this is the only possible way to have a paper magazine in full colour.

Although I don't speak or read Hungarian the quality of the magazine and content look excellent. Some of the articles looked very interesting. I particularly liked the one covering the installation of MorpOS and Ubuntu on a Mac Mini. I'm going to have to give that a try when I get some time.

Keep up the good work.

Wonderful! Translate it to english (or german ) and behold how your sales go through the roof-top! Well, at least in Amiga scales, expect no skyscraper's roof...

Trevor:

I was interested in this article as well. I tried google translate and it seemed to get the job done - awkward to copy and paste one column of the article at a time, but I got used to it. :)

I did attempt to import sections of the magazine into the google-translate file upload feature but its filesize limitation made it impossible - even at one page at a time.

Correction - It was just a silly error on my part - you can split up the issue and import an article at a time but as I figured the images of the pdf wreak havoc. :)
