software OS4   software OS4 : IconsReworked
posted by tommysammy on 24-Jan-2012 16:25:57 (4485 reads)
Icons Reworked

http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=graphics/icon/iconsreworked.lha

I present here one of my projects,I'd like to share with you.
AmigaOS4.1 is a very smart and successful operating system.
The icons are visually beautiful.
Unfortunately this does not apply sometimes with ThirdPartySoftware.
Often the icons are very old and ugly, just do not look up to date.
This fact can not be changed, except you do it yourself.
Exactly what I've done is to create over 110 Iconsets.
As software I used Gimp,PNGConverter and IconEditor on the X1000.
Since I am not a graphic designer and I have two left hands for this,I had to
solve the problem differently.

I've searched the graphics and then edited it together.
Icons from WarpView,InsanaPlaya,GFXBench2D,Grunch,RageMem and AmigaFlipclock i
have designed myself.
In the other sets I've entered only modern icons and usually processes the main
icon.
Therefore, there are certainly one or another icon, where the idea is certainly
not new.
The icon sets I have created you need only to copy the .info files to your
original folder.
For this you can take DOPUS.I request every developer from the respective
programs to take this into your download archives.
The whole thing is very time consuming.Sometimes I sit here by the idea of an
icon to
satisfactory result 2 hours to finished it.
Anyone who feels called can contribute to this project.

ToDo:Create more iconsets

Big Thanks goes to Martin Merz" mason",Frank Ruthe "cha05e90".Massimo Tantignone

Important:
To see all icons ,you must install LIBS/IconModules/png.iconmodule and reset
then your Amiga.
Here is the link, where you get the png.iconmodule
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=library/misc/png_im.lha

This is the latest version of Icons Reworked .
You need not be sad, Icons Reworked 2 will follow.
I will first make a couple of months a break.

Of course, it goes without saying that every copyright holder has been asked about this "project" and given his or her permission to include their art and change it in an arbitrary manner.

Looks nice!

However, I think old icons are appropriate for old applications. New beautiful icon for eg. ImageFX or TurboCalc looks simply strange.

its an icon collection with a pressure on Collection,it's free and its optional.

Even if it's "just icons", at least in my opinion, it's important to:
-Ask permission to make (and publish) changes, if using someone elses work (icons drawn by someone else)
-Ask to include even unmodified files
-Credit all people, whose icons were included, modified or not

No idea if there are any such problems with this set (and cannot check right now), just wanted to point out that such issues most certainly CAN apply to icon sets aswell.

Being a collection, I guess it's quite likely it has at least some "modified work originally done by someone else"

There's "thanks" list in the post, I assume that refers to people whose work was used.

Excellent collection of icons, I want more

Need new style icons forAmigaWriter, Ignition,Quickfile,Monopoly, Soliton,DrawStudio, ImageFX and SnoopDOS to name a few. I like the idea of new icons for old programs, utilities and games etc but know some folk don't, just nice to have a choice.

@Tommy

Eventually a new icon/folder for AmiArcadia would be nice aswell, the icons i currently use are a lot classic style, time to switch to somethings modern (OS4 style)

Great iconset (10/10), congrats !
