| Thank you Davy. This is great news. Thank you for all you have done for Amiga, MorphOS and AROS. Would it be possible to release the source code to Envy24 too ? I know that when AROS goes ABI v.1 we need to recompile everything and it would be very sad if my Juli@ card stoped working. |

| Thanks Davy, very nice gesture! I've used AE a lot under MorphOS and it's a great program and I know that many will enjoy this release. I wish you the best in the future on the new platforms. |

| It would be great if this was taken forward as an open and free project. I'd love to see the features of Horny added to make it an integrated audio and midi resource.
Thank you for this wonderful gift. |

| @Davy
That would be wonderfull. Thx :)
If someday we get wxwidgets and AHI updated to todays standards. Would you consider doing another Amiga version of AE ? For sure not freeware. Last edited by nikosidis on 13-Feb-2012 at 03:29 PM.

It's not very likely to happen for many reasons: - As stated before, although AHI has been open source for a long time, no one has updated it - wxWidgets port has been stalled for years and I need even more than the core and base parts (xml for instance) - People would probably moan about why there is no VST support - I don't have the exact figures here, but I think the total amount of sales from OS4/MorphOS/AROS versions would be between 100 and 150 in 8 years or so of time. Since the user base has decreased since, one needs to think if spending a large amount of time in porting is worth it - Not going to make friends with this one, but although the Amiga was famous for its multi-media capabilities 25 years ago, it currently is completely not fit for serious audio work with all its Forbid/Permit and Enable/Disable calls. And even if one of the Amiga or Amiga-like operating systems fixes this, it is not fixed in the others. - The lack of memory protection is of course a serious issue for development. Rebooting after every crash during development/debugging is a real pain. - I can go on, really... _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

| Yes, I understand this. In my opinion AE v.4 is more than enough for at least hobby use. It is quite funny to hear what great tunes people can get out of something aged as SID etc. People can have the best most advanced tools but that does not mean it is going to be good or interesting, at the same time why should people settle for less ;)
I'm at least very pleased to have a great program like AE v.4 and will continiue to use it since It does what I need from a multitrack recording program. |

I take it a major overhaul of the OS would be required to fix that? _________________ Robert -- A1XE G4, OS4.1. Peg1 G3, MOS 1.4. Abel Soul - Check out our tunes on Spotify
