| Have updated my system, this is great news, AmiCygnix gives us so much more software and makes it possible to handle 'common' formats using our beloved Amigas, would be nice to have such things 'native' but this is a good option for us, well done all involved _________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.

Hope that there will no more serious bugs in it
It was a hard time, but it was necessary for better stability especially with the upcoming software. Thanks to Tommysammy for his patience try my new versions again and again

I have an issue on one machine. It could be a Uboot issue or RadeonHD driver issue or an AmiCygnix issue. The Machine freezes on AmiCygnix startup using Picasso96cloneWB video driver. Gray Sceen and pointer visible and the AmiCygnix Title on the screen Menu line.It works ok in window mode. The configuration were I have the problem is using a RadeonHD PCIE card via a PCI to PCIe adapter on a Sam440ep-flex.It works ok with a Radeon 9250 and a PCI Radeon x1300 on the same machine. There is no serial debug output after the system freeze. This is the only application that I have had a problem with since using the Radeon HD Driver on a Sam440ep for over a year. I have reported this issue to Hans as well but due to the lack of serial debug issue it is hard to determine what is causing the problem.Amicygnix works ok with all the video cards on my Sam460ex. Have the same results with the latest version of AmiCygnix and the RadeonHD driver 0.54. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card

Thanks for the bug report!
Did you also have this problem with AmiCygnix 1.1 and 1.0?
The main difference between the workbench driver and the driver which opens a custom screen is, that workbench driver renders first into a private bitmap and then blits the content into the workbench window. The other drivers are rendering the content directly into the screens gfx memory. The bitmap is always locked if something is rendered. I guess that here is something wrong. I think that it started with version 1.1. Remember that there is no overlay with the Radeon HD Driver. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card

Except the picasso96pip driver no driver needs overlay. At the moment I don't have overlay here myself (X1650 in a SAM460).
Seems to be a very hard to find problem and until I cannot reproduce it here, I see no way to fix it. I will take a look at the sources - maybe I'll find something. _________________ X-5000 PPC 5020/2 GHZ, Fractal Define XL R2-Tower, OS 4.1 final update 2, 4 GB, Radeon HD 7770, ESI Juli@ XTe SAM 460ex/1,15 GHZ, OS 4.1 final, 2 GB, Radeon HD 6450 Amiga 4000D/040 25 Mhz, OS 3.9 BB2, 272 MB, X-Surf, 250 MB ZIP

| Nice to see an update.
A technical question here: I`m running NetBSD on another machine, how can I run an X application there and display it to AmiCygnix ? Is it feasible? How do I set permissions to Amiga?
A quick try, like "xclock -display AmigaIP:0" returned a "connection to AmigaIP:0.0 refused by server" error. _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Louis: Pretty much.

For display 0 open the file "Cygnix:CygnixPPC/etc/X0.conf" and add the IP (or hostname) of your machine in a new line. Example:
localhost 192.168.0.1
If you use a hostname, the name must be defined in the network settings - but I think you know this already
The X server I use is quite old (X11R6.3). Maybe the program refuses to work because of missing server extensions. _________________ X-5000 PPC 5020/2 GHZ, Fractal Define XL R2-Tower, OS 4.1 final update 2, 4 GB, Radeon HD 7770, ESI Juli@ XTe SAM 460ex/1,15 GHZ, OS 4.1 final, 2 GB, Radeon HD 6450 Amiga 4000D/040 25 Mhz, OS 3.9 BB2, 272 MB, X-Surf, 250 MB ZIP

I tried to create the .conf file by adding the NetBSD IP but no luck. Maybe it`s what you`ve said: an old X11 server (then again, I`m a bit rusty on BSD, last time I really used it was on my A4000). Anyhow, if somebody gets to run anything simple (like xclock) remotely on AmiCygnix, it would be cool to post a "how to" guide here... _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Aaaah - I'm so dumb. It is NOT "Cygnix:CygnixPPC/etc/X0.conf", it is "Cygnix:CygnixPPC/etc/X0.hosts"!! The file already exists and contains "localhost".
I was able to launch some programs on a Knoppix system and opened them on the AmiCygnix screen without problems. So it works.
BTW: If there is a problem with the X server extensions, you don't get a message like "connection refused".

| @CygnusEd Works great now! It`s amazing!
What about the ssh sessions? I opened an xterm pretty easy, but to tunnel the connection I should use ssh -X from the BSD side... There should be an installed & set version on the amiga side waiting for the connection.. (I got an emty Devs:SSH/ dir)?! Last edited by Cass on 18-Nov-2012 at 03:34 PM.
