Software News   Software News : iGame for Windows (WinUAE) - beta version available
posted by midwan on 18-Nov-2012 13:12:00 (2486 reads)
It started as a personal project but since I believe more people might have some use for it, I decided to make it public...

iGame for Windows is an application inspired by the original iGame for Amiga by MrZammler. It allows you to manage your Amiga games collection and launch them in WinUAE with a double-click.

Download it here

Features include:
-Recursive folder scanning for your games.
-Storage of all game titles found in a local database.
-Use screenshots, music and extras from GameBase Amiga, if found. They are displayed on the right hand side for each game.
-Launch the selected game in WinUAE (with the selected UAE configuration) with a simple double-click.
-Music playback using the bundled XMPlay player, or alternatively DeliPlayer2 if it’s found installed.
-Search for selected game in well-known related websites (LemonAmiga, HOL).
-Live filtering of games from the list, depending on your search text.
-Multi-disk game handling (utilizing the DiskSwapper feature of WinUAE).
-Option to show only unique game Titles (default) or all files found.

Meanwhile, the following features are planned to be included later on:

-Support WHDLoad games (scanning, launching, metadata), besides just ADF/ADZ/ZIP/IPF.
-Fetch game metadata from various websites and store them locally for each game.
-Edit game metadata like screenshots, music, selected UAE config, information etc.

Feedback is welcome!

make sure to put the name Game Launcher or front end in the article next time as i had no idea that it was just that.

anyway, i got no windows machine so this is not of use for me but if you ever do something like this for a real Amiga then i would be happy

Thanks and sorry about the description, it could have been a bit better...

Meanwhile, I'm looking for a better title to avoid confusion with the original iGame for Amiga, so if you guys have any ideas I'd be happy to hear them.

At first I thought it was from the same author... This feels like steeling the concept and the name...

Why not call it Amiga Lemonade? Oops that one did already exist.

I'm actually glad to see there is something that can be put against Cloanto's Amiga Forever.
They act like 'owning' a skin for Amiga emulation. Bad attitude if you ask me.

Some thoughts:
- AmiLauncher
- AdfLauncher
- Kickstarter
- Lazarus
- AntiGuru
- BBTGM (Bring Back The Good Memories)
- Amiga Lounge
