software OS4   software OS4 : Huenison released
   posted by saimo on 11-Jul-2013 20:19:00 (6778 reads)
Inspired by a variety of classics including Arkanoid, Space Invaders and Tetris, Huenison is a frantic-paced hybrid of shoot 'em up and colour-matching puzzle game presented in neo-retro, unique visual styles.

Piloting a small mobile cannon back and forth across the bottom of a well, you must cycle through your six coloured beams, firing at the descending onslaught of corresponding coloured bricks. Missed shots bring the deadly zapper closer to your cannon, and missed bricks raise the ground they touch.

But this is just to begin with.

Read More >>>>>

With 25 levels, multiple boss battles, 9 different game modes, kick-ass chiptunes and a ludicrous variety of brick types, Huenison is all about racking up bonuses and score chaining. Your goal? To achieve the top position on the online highscore table and, while at it, to save the world!

Almost two years in development, Huenison was designed and coded by Simone Bevilacqua of RETREAM for AmigaOS 4 and Windows, and has also been tested and proven to run on Linux and MacOS through Wine.

The demo gets you about a fifth of the full game for free, just enough to give a taster of the retro-gaming chaos to follow!

As of the 12th of July 2013 (00:00 GMT), the full game will be on sale as a digital DRM-free download from RGCD priced at £2.99.

I bought the game. I'm in TOP 3.

@g0blin

OK!

@Tomppeli

Thank you! It's great to see people spilling drops of pixel blood to make it to the top of the ranking

Great work, Saimo. Excellent design [just watched how it looks / plays on Youtube, didn`t have time to try it yet on PC / Amiga]. It reminds me on Puppygames titles [http://www.puppygames.net/].

@djnick

Thanks for the compliments! - I'll be glad to hear from you after trying it: you see, any video totally destroys the aspect of the game, because it's based on particular pixel shaders that require pixel-perfectness (dot-matrix, CRT, LCD, etc.). Only a lossless video does the visuals justice, but that's not an option that video sharing services offer :/ In fact, I uploaded the trailer in lossless format to avoid the double quality loss due to re-encoding.
In a broader sense, I spent a huge amount of time in the overall design (with games so dense and rich like this, it's difficult to come up with a well-balanced recipe).

I guess Puppy Games came to mind because of the neon-look of their games: Huenison has a bit of that, too (but I'm not implying that I've been inspired by them).

@Moxee

You're right! It's a problem on the RGCD - I'll give them a heads-up. Thanks for reporting the problem!

While at it, can I ask you a favour? Could you replace the news item text with the one below? By mistake I had submitted a wrong draft Moreover, I have substituted the interview URL with the one that points to the full interview published on Facebook.

@saimo

Great!

I had a problem with the bad link again until I realized that I was using the old article on an old browser tab. A quick kill and reload of the tab cleared that out.

I'll let DaveyD and _Steve_ know that I took care of it.

That's very good, both because it saves them work and because the version I passed them contains the link that now doesn't work anymore (RGCD has been informed, so hopefully the page will be up again soon anyway).

@Epsilon

My pleasure, really!
Keep on shooting 'em bricks, possibily without going

EDIT: I noticed your name appeared in the ranking: great! Hoping to see it climb the ladder
BTW, I see that somebody is starting to play seriously: the user nanto is at the top with 91275 points, currently... who's gonna beat him/her?

I wonder if he's an Amiga user and if he's reading here, though.
But I'm happy to see people battling

@netrot

Thank you! I'm glad that you'll have time to face the challenge (and also a bit envious because, by coincidence, during the next 3 weeks I'll have to substitute a colleague who's on holiday, besides doing my regular work).

@saimo

Sorry for this little off-topic: you have online rankings, Amiboing has online rankings and achievements... i think it'd be cool to have a centralized/unified web-platform for AmigaOS game rankings and achievements, like modern consoles...
