software OS4   software OS4 : Huenison released
   posted by saimo on 11-Jul-2013 20:19:00 (6779 reads)
Inspired by a variety of classics including Arkanoid, Space Invaders and Tetris, Huenison is a frantic-paced hybrid of shoot 'em up and colour-matching puzzle game presented in neo-retro, unique visual styles.

Piloting a small mobile cannon back and forth across the bottom of a well, you must cycle through your six coloured beams, firing at the descending onslaught of corresponding coloured bricks. Missed shots bring the deadly zapper closer to your cannon, and missed bricks raise the ground they touch.

But this is just to begin with.

Read More >>>>>

With 25 levels, multiple boss battles, 9 different game modes, kick-ass chiptunes and a ludicrous variety of brick types, Huenison is all about racking up bonuses and score chaining. Your goal? To achieve the top position on the online highscore table and, while at it, to save the world!

Almost two years in development, Huenison was designed and coded by Simone Bevilacqua of RETREAM for AmigaOS 4 and Windows, and has also been tested and proven to run on Linux and MacOS through Wine.

The demo gets you about a fifth of the full game for free, just enough to give a taster of the retro-gaming chaos to follow!

As of the 12th of July 2013 (00:00 GMT), the full game will be on sale as a digital DRM-free download from RGCD priced at £2.99.

@Nibunnoichi

No problem.
Well, I can't give a full answer because it would take ages as it requires explaining what kind of animal I am (but in my interviews something comes out). Anyway... I was not aware of the AmiBoing system (and still I am not - I've read about it only here) and I'm not aware of what modern platforms do: as strange as it might seem, I simply don't follow the computing world. I have no idea of what happens in the hardware and software world. I glance now and then at the news here and I follow a bit the C64 scene. That's all.
Then, I develop my crazy stuff for the pleasure of doing so, and with as little technical contact as possible with the outside because I have a sort of allergy to technology. I just want and need to do everything on my own, the way I want, without having to adapt. The rest is of no interest to me. (Apologies for being brutal).

@all

You might enjoy the thought that AmigaOS is currently mentioned on the front page, and at the top, of IndieGames.com, THE indie games website

I bought the game but wondered why there is the same name twice in the online hiscores ??

BTW I am like Epsilon, fire at will !!!

nice game, very enjoyable ! what was not clear was that you cant select the game type, it is automatic and depends on the levels. at least in the the menu, I did not see where you could select the gametype.

@lionstorm

Thank you for buying, for the compliments and for submitting the hiscores (I guess you're "lio"?)!

Hiscores: the top 3 hiscores are kept both locally and globally.
Firing: the game offers plenty of shooting, but it must be carefully controlled
Game modes: right, the mode is not selectable - as the instructions clearly say, each level is based on a certain mode.

@saimo

Don't worry, i perfectly understand what you're saying
It was just an idea which i thought it could be useful, i wasn't saying that you have to develop it
Maybe the best bet would be that somone other develops it and then game developers would be free to adhere to it or not.

@nibunnoichi

I'd say that such a thing would have very low priority: first there needs to be games, and the system wouldn't be a key factor to spur/ease the development of games.
Of course, if anybody feels like developing it, he's free to do so.

I read a little bit the pdf but I did not see where it says what gamemode is playing.

Right at the beginning of each level, a messages flashes for a couple of seconds indicating the level number and level mode - f.ex., something like this:

LEVEL 13
RUSH.2

It means:
* 13th level;
* RUSH mode;
* second block of levels.

(Blocks of levels: the levels are divided into 3 blocks of 8 levels each, plus a final level.)

@saimo:

Thanks for this game! I've just bought it ( if the act at this very low price can even call buying).

Great atmosphere, love the presentation.

Could you tell me, how can I check/replace the e-mail address entered before the first exit? Maybe I mistyped, because can't get any answare for it.

Best regards!

No problem: just send me the data/hiscores.dat file to postmaster at retream.com and I'll fix everything for you.

Thanks a lot! But why the demo? You should be able to download the full version in a few minutes

Hi all,

quite simply, I'd like to humbly ask you: could you consider voting for Huenison at the 2013 Indie of the Year Awards? The nominations phase has begun just today.
If you think Huenison deserves it, it's sufficient to:
1. go to http://www.indiedb.com/games/huenison;
2. click the "VOTE" button.
Quick, anonymous and free (and non-binding: you can vote as many games as you want)!
And if you really like Huenison, you could also spread the word
