Today, DigiBooster 3 is released for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, and MorphOS.

DigiBooster 3 is available on CD-ROM and as download in our
Online-shop http://www.amigashop.org.

You can find more information about DigiBooster 3 on the official support
website http://www.digibooster.de.

Read more ---->

DigiBooster 3 follows the traditional tracker's way of making music with an
advanced audio processing engine, and an up-to-date MUI based graphical user
interface. It retains backward compatibility with its Amiga ancestor,
DigiBooster Pro 2. On the other hand the program code has been written from
scratch. Its modular design gives it a straightforward path for future
development. Except for versions for classic Amiga computers, DigiBooster 3
is also compiled for PowerPC processors, taking advantage of their greater
computing power.

Features:

- High quality audio engine, 24 bits, up to 192 kHz.
- Backward compatibility with DigiBooster Pro 2.x.
- MUI based interface, dynamically adapts itself to the screen size.
- Opensourced replayer code, portable also for non-Amiga systems.
- All sound effects are executed in single step mode.
- Single step auto-synchronisation to the module tempo.
- Highly configurable.
- ARexx port offering full control of the program from scripts.

Does it take a while to appear there? I want to use it!!

Update: Download now available. Just had to be patient! Thanks again for this software.

@Epsilon:

I've read your review of DigiBooster 3, nice one . I've tried to add a comment, but it did not work, so I want to reply to some things here.

1. In fact, a bug in the installation script of AmigaOS 4 version slipped through testing. It has been already fixed and archives have been updated. Sorry for this.

2. You can save a module to WAVE/AIFF file using "Mixer" button in the main button block. Mixer is independent of the main program, supports 8, 16 and 24 bits and sampling rates up to 192 kHz. Automatic and manual gain control is also in place.

3. It is a bit surprising that X1000 has problems with audio stuttering. I develop AmigaOS 4 version on Pegasos II, which is a way slower machine. There is no stuttering neither when using internal AC97 audio nor with SoundBlaster Live on PCI. There are two possible reasons. The first one is that some process is running at priority higher than DigiBooster 3 player. If player is halted by the OS, of course AHI does not receive audio data on time. Another reason may be that X1000 AHI driver does not work well with short buffers. DigiBooster 3 uses very short buffers to maintain realtime response on keypresses and also realtime update of the level meter and scopes. Audio buffer length may be adjusted in the configuration window.

@g_kraszewski

Thank you for the feedback and help - it is great to hear feedback from the author of the program. Thank you for your hard work in getting DigiBooster 3 built and released for AmigaOS4!

Regarding point 1 - I am glad this problem has been addressed now for future customers. Not sure if I can download it again to reinstall correctly - will my product key work a second time installing on the same system? If so, should I install it over the top of the manual install or in a different location?

Point 2 - thanks for clearing this up - as I said in the blog I didn't find it yet, I suspected it may be somewhere I hadn't yet found! Now I know where to go.

Point 3 - I don't know about the stuttering audio cause yet either - one theory is DOpus 5.9 is affecting things as it's priority had to be adjusted to allow the AmiDock to work with it. I will keep looking into it and update the blog if I work it out.

I have now updated my blog entry with the points you mentioned, thanks!

Catcha,
Epsilon

There are a few ways to deal with. First, if you do not need the German locale, you may (as I have suggeested on amigans.net) go to the unpacked archive, create an empty directory named "catalogs" and rerun the installation script. Another way is to redownload the archive from the distribution site, your key will work. You can install over the manual installation, you will have to enter the key again, once.

I have stuttering here too (sam460ex with EnvyHT24 sound card..
During installation, it missed MorphOStheme too... So, I must drag the MorphOS theme directory into OS4 theme directory... After that, installation finished but in a first time, I take MorphOS "blue" theme and it freezed on a reaction window.. So I had to delete digibooster prefs from Env/arc/Mui/ , and reinstall the software..

Congrats on the release. A couple of questions

1. Do you still plan on implementing a soft synth module?

2. Do you guys plan on supported MOD format (crucial I think for a lot of classic 68k tracker guys) Or at least a tool to convert MOD to DBM?

Now it is an element of a broader plan of plugin-based sample editor. Any soft-synth may be a plugin for the sample editor.

Yes. MOD and XM are considered.

@Krashan

Great news! Just got the chance to play about with the demo version last night - great opportunity to poke around and see if it interests me before buying.

Having never used a tracker before, I was a bit confused by the interface, but after 5 minutes of clicking around and engaging brain (I always try this before reading the docs) it's all starting to make sense.

I've just started getting my education in trackers from the included docs, so it's all coming together now - thanks for taking the time to explain samples, instruments, effects etc - for a total noob to this type of application it's really useful to have the basics explained without presuming the user already knows how to use trackers.

Congratulations on getting it to release!
