How come I got my copy on Wednesday before 12:00? Joensuu Finland Rulez;)

Just thoughts about the cd:

As really nothing works and we have different setups and everybody with an Amiga with a cd drive has or could have internet access there could be a download section for the interested like: (There is something but not checked)

Amiga Classics

Amiga 4.x

Morphos

Aros

The point is that there is a pile of cd:s even here mostly not usefull.
A better usability and to cut the costs+time would be to drop it.

The colour magazine is very welcome but Please save the time for more important ideas than filling a cd nobody wants?

I:ll be the first to cut the old cd off because there are no real gems, they could be downloaded more easily to my A1200 and copied to the A500 dd if needed not talking about the newer machines.

I'm Sorry if this suggestion is bad for someone but in here the cd has been obsolete for a few years.

Maybe I put my thoughts wrong. I cancelled the cd, getting just the mag.

There is just a pile of cd:s and getting the wanted from the net. Sorry if I thought this was mostly the same situation nowdays for everybody at Amigaworld.net.

(Not if You are not in the (amigaworld).net then;)

The cd just makes a good fellow person/persons occupied if there is talent to do more.
Got the answer that there is no intention to make a payable version from the downloads
but everything comes eventually to download for free so that's why I cancelled the un usefull material.

My hopes were to make the mag even more bigger and even better with some things from the past big mags. Sorry for those suggestions.

And perhaps I read more into your post than you meant. Sorry, if so.

I am not getting the CD because of cost of distance. I remember getting the Cover Floppies and CDs on some USA Amiga magazines back when those magazines were plentiful. I can't even remember their names now except for Amiga World. I was not on the internet back then and wanted to experience all the Amiga software I could.

Does anyone remember a floppy subscription which came every two months in a long and skinny light blue box? I've forgotten the company's name. I still have all those floppies in their boxes. Also all the Cover Floppies and CDs which I received. Most of those Cover Floppies and CDs are still attached to their respective magazines.

I was put off by your use of the words: "a cd nobody wants". It sounds sort of rude saying that. The editors certainly would not be offering the CD if nobody wanted it. They would be losing money. At least logic tells me that. Of course I could be wrong, but I don't think they are foolish enough to be tossing money to the wind. Enough people must want the CD to make it viable.

I understand.

Don't be sorry for making suggestions. Varied ideas from all minds make for a better society. Have you contacted Andreas privately about your ideas?

Hello, got nearly all of AmigaFormats and one drawer full of Coverdisks. Back then it was fine when there was no net and we got Full Versions of programs.

Today there are not many to have and the net was introducet to my A4000 in -97. It was a slowish dial-up but today over here there is no possibility to get a slow one but in a phone maybe. Net is a must to work anyhow as offices have moved and the cost to pay a bill are somelike 8-10€ at the bank for example that our services are gone with the net.

I wrote Andreas and got a cheaper invoice immediately, Thank You very much.

He does a great job and I like our only English mag.

Also he told that all is downloadable from their site for free so not a lot of use for here.
Maybe these A1,A1200'sand the A500 are so different that usually nothing works properly.

Even in AmigaFormat times I was worried about the shortage of programs and games.
Some Cu and others purhased too occasionally.

You can fill a CD with old PD stuff or an MP3 interview then.. OK if someone needs them, I'd liked a cheaper Mag with a bit more to the netside for the cost like the top leading mag has here: acess to the netsite with the order. They also give freebies like e-mail,web-space and virus protection that is not needed for us.(Especially the virus part just to be clear;)

Just thoughts as there is a web site allready but as heard it's free, then it is. Not minding if the order would include an improved one

Well all is right. I really ordered the CD just for support all the time.

My AF Issue 107 arrived today. It is 6 days after this news item was posted. I don't know if they gave it to the post 6 days ago, but any time under a week half way around the world is good service to me.

Ah, those were the days! These are also the reasons I subscribed to the Cover Floppies.

I could not afford an A4000 back then, lucky you. I bought a new A500 when they were introduced. Then I purchased three used A2000s when they came into the newspaper classified ads. One of which I rescued from Microsoft in Redmond. Later I got a used A4000.

A friend talked me into getting a dial up 300 baud modem. I remember the joys of getting AMosaic to connect. I think I got a 1200 baud modem next. I was really happy when I got a really fast 56k modem. Later came DSL with a wireless modem. Just look at the speeds we have now with broadband. I sure would not want to return to slow connections.

Yes there was so much exitement at those days:)

I got the A4000 without dealers profit quite straight as my brother used to have a shop for home electronics. (Before the big chains rolled over all individuals)

It was so expensive, I remember when it was comming dark and we got the money from the ATM and my brother was watching my back in case of a robbery.

Then going to the express bus station with a pile of money and I had merely the gut's to put it up and running. My cousin allways put it to render something after he left from visit so I couldn't do much with the machine. Sold it off quite empty at a 1/3 price cause the A1200 had more cheap 060 turbos and the PIV having now (Zorro II makes it slower but anyway got the money for these)

The XE is another story, still waiting for the update;)

The A500 is still the best I remember and learned from that. Today If wanting to have fun I go only A500. (Action Replay IV, cable to another not installed.) Not doing work with it anymore.

Whow. The meter says it's over 25C in the sun and around +10Celsius in the shadow at this date. It's like summer in the winter;)

Glad we had my bad cleared up! Happy Migging. PR.

Edit, expencive is spelled expensive, my English has become so rusty. Ideas and words may lead to misunderstandings. No harm intended.

Adding to my lousy english I put a ?-mark after my "claim".

I thought this was just a question. (?) Better think before writing. Hopefully mine is not so bad as some xx- used to be. Our country is free to write anything. I have to sharpen up then for worldwide;)

Hope AF will continue forever as there are new things comming. If Trevor could write what happened to Eyetech&Alan Redhouse if known I'd be really interested (as having a repaired XE from new) if not too personal. May the history Not repeat itself.

Best Regards, I'll finish from my side.

My goodness! What a fine break for you.

I haven't used an ATM since the mid 1990s. When I did it was always after dark too. It is very prudent to not go there alone. I always took my Doberman Pincher with me to the machine. If anyone else walked up they kept their distance.

Now during my retirement I can go to the bank any time I want. I walk inside and leave my dog in the car. Although I did take him inside one day because they wanted to see him.
