| to make it clear what the bounty aims to. Existing desktops on Aros are Wanderer (default), Scalos, Magellan and Workbook. Wanderer in its current form is too big, has bugs and needs too much resources. To be usable you needed 68060 right now. Scalos does not work on 68k right now. Magellan is great but some people dislike it (whyever). Workbook is very small (fits in the roms) so hardware requirement would be lower than using Wanderer or Magellan. The idea is to be on 3.9 level so more users might get attracted.
I also work on a slim version of Aros Vision who is based on Magellan, runs with both PAL/NTSC and RTG and is emulating feeling and optics of 3.1.. But it certainly will not fit in rom and be more dedicated to high-equipped amigas and FPGAs. So if you want something for low-spec amigas that is is development please support the bounty. | AmigaWorld.net may want to edit the news item and make the URL into a proper link. That way, more potential backers are almost guaranteed to visit the bounty site. _________________ That'll Put Marzipan In Your Pie Plate, Bingo 💻 Pro-Amiga, 🌍 Pro-Globalism, 🍅 Pro-Vegan, 🛦 Pro-NATO & 🇪🇺 Pro-Joint EU Defense Intervention Initiative

Hey, isn't time to move on at least a bit and make snapshot icons and windows automatically for example? |

| Intrigued by this... basically if I understand this correctly, Workbook is a Workbench replacement on par with 3.9 in terms of features but with the low requirements of Workbench 3.1 (in a nutshell) ?
I tried ClassicWB and did NOT like it, so will watch this project with interest

YES PLEASE!
If I may suggest some other features I would like to see
- Automatic un-archiving of LHA files - you double click on an .LHA and it unarchives automatically without using the unlha x command
- An option of a startup sound after boot-up
- A visible clock on the Workbench menu bar
Kind regards, Spud. |

You may try DefIcons (part of NewIcons for 3.0/3.1 or in separate package for 3.5) or some GUI for archivers (eg. I use BurnGUI on my A1200).

Most important WB feature ever. Really.

There are numerous small programs with such function. I use BarClock (this one works on anything since OS2.0 including 4.1FE ).Last edited by pavlor on 12-Dec-2015 at 11:20 PM.

The bounty says "it is the chance to get a replacement of 3.1. even for low-spec amigas".
So it's supposed to meet 3.1 functionnalities, certainly not 3.9.
Plus "low-spec amigas" means floppy-disk based amigas with 68000/68020 and 1-2Mb memory, so it rules out automatic snapshot,..
At least that's how I understand it.Last edited by Leo on 13-Dec-2015 at 09:29 AM. Last edited by Leo on 13-Dec-2015 at 09:29 AM.
