Software News   Software News : KHTML For AWeb on High End Systems
posted by unclecurio on 20-Aug-2003 23:39:14 (2461 reads)
From the AWeb site:
Quote: "Features for AWeb 4.0 APL have yet to be announced, but most of these are evolving around the HTML engine. Today I received confirmation that people interested in KHTML development for Amiga are allowed to post on the kfm-devel mailing list for advice on the nuts-and-bolts on KHTML. Hopefully now, KHTML will become a part of the Amiga platform and its clones."

KHTML does seem the way to go (Apple use it) - I'd be really great to have it

Oooh, interesting. It'll be fun to see which is finished first - this or AmiZilla

This might sound stupid but I've never heard of KHTML , but good to hear they're making progress anyway

Yeah definately interesting. Just started using Mozilla Firebird on OS X and it's great, noticable improvement on IE - especially speed wise. Would definately like to see Firebird on the Amiga.

Well, it just keeps getting better. Amiga may wind up with a modern browser yet.

Ever used the KDE desktop on Linux? KHTML it its rendering engine, like Gecko is Mozilla's. KHTML has matured quickly, and many people think it's better in ways than Gecko. Apple used it in their new Safari web browser.

Indeed Dave Hyatt et al at Apple worked hard to turn it into a mature rendering engine.

Indeed, this is one of the reasons why we chose the engine.

Thanks, but I just maintain the website, and boss people around (they say ).

The real people who are doing the work, are those posting on the developer list: http://lists.sunsite.dk/aweb-dev/
