Right, but what's your point?
Everyone knows that Amigakit registered "A1200" trademark. heh.

"Trademark"?! Heh.
Oh, you mean Word Mark, i.e. generic letters forming a word where the important thing is the linguistical aspect regardless of its visual appearance? Yeah...
But what I see here is a Design Mark (or a Stylized Form mark) "comprised of stylized words, letters, numbers, and/or design elements".
It indeed happens to have the letters A1200 in it, but may I point out that it's not really this we see...
A1200 ...but rather something that very much (and very much by purpose) resembles this:
Undeniable parasite marketing in both practice and intent.
In fact, since the usefulness of the actual product itself is rather questionable, I would say the whole purpose of it is more about trying to gradually annexing an area in old Commodore Intellectual Property they have no given right to, with an obvious intent of later trying to claim it officially by arguing they have (by then) been using it for long enough time that it has turned into a distinct identifier for their business. AeonKit has been doing that for many years now (it's a clear pattern) on multiple fronts (web domains, website logos, product naming and various marketing by association that gradually closes in on the target).
Of course comments like yours above (and I'm sure many more will come below made by others) helps their effort in this.
Heh. |

I actually have two of their A1200 cases (including the key caps), and while there obviously is no way for me to verify this personally, they have always claimed loud and clear to have been making them with full permission from McEwen/Amiga Inc (in the days) which I suppose they would be able to back up with proof if needed, and today they acknowledge the current trademark owner at the bottom of their page.
Maybe AeonKit have a license or permission as well (they sure seem to get along with the IP owner pretty fine), and to be honest I don't really care since it's not my fight anyway. I doubt it, though. They have persistently been naming companies, naming products, using logos, etc in a parasite marketing way, long before the brands were license-able the way they probably are today. When you look at it from above, and over time, a pattern emerges when it comes to AeonKit, and it resembles that of Hyperion's, where expropriation of ownership is key. That's what upsetting me. |

I'm sure you know where to post a thread on such a topic these days. (evil grin)
@Amigakit
If you want feedback, it's hard to say....
Depending on the case & keycaps one has, some of these seem a good fit (look).
Moved to a different case and/or set of keycaps, the same badge might not fit as well.
*shrug*

Luckily we are many who share this view, and we will hold their feet to the fire if it ever happens - these terms and symbols dropped out of trademark protection decades ago, and have been used in public domain ever since.
When did you ever see an original Amiga checkmark alone, with a TM or (R) next to it?
No, it was always "Amiga" that was the registered trademark. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC

| A post about case badges, and we get all of... this...
Anyway, I think they look great! I'll keep these in mind should I lose the badges on my machines. _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back!
