| Great that this project is getting somewhere now after decades of development. I think it already started in the 90's as far as I remember.
One thing, they have really no idea of how to create user interfaces, styling, design and user experience. This is very ugly and without any vision, it looks like Windows 95. Really said to see this.
They should get a workgroup for "user interface". _________________ AmigaScene.nl

| @sananaman Before you judge you should try it. AROS One x86 has nothing of Win95, AROS One is more like Amiga OS3 than you think.
I am a 68-year-old Amiga user Italian, also a developer of AfA One OS3.9 BB4, AROS One x86 and AROS One 68k has existed for a couple of years !!!
Win95 never had DualPNG (two-sided + Glow) icons, if it is Amistart that gives you that impression on AROS One Amistart can be replaced with the BoingIconBar with a click, Even the theme of windows can be changed with one click, see video see screenshot

| I flashed it to USB. Then I choose one option it then a"waiting for bootable media" screen shows up. By that time the mouse and keyboard are turned off _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. The Illusion of Choice | Am*ga

| What did you burn the USB image with? you need to use Rufus, many burning programs fail.
Where do you start the Pendrive? some PCs may not support AROS, HERE find all the hardware compatibility, your error shows that the "hardisk" was not found !
As your first time I recommend you to install AROS One on VMware Player, very easy you install it in 5 minutes, you can see the tutorial in my video posted above.
Thanks for trying ! Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM on 30-Nov-2022 at 10:07 AM. Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM on 29-Nov-2022 at 11:33 AM.

Afterwards I add use it! Is there a way to have pull down menus like in AmigaOS? It's driving me nuts! xDLast edited by pixie on 29-Nov-2022 at 11:49 AM.

| If I understand you correctly you would like the menu only on the top bar ?
If this is what you want of the go:
- Prefs - Icontrol Preferences - Type Pull-Down _________________ AROS One Home Site AfA One Amiga OS 3.9

| Thanks a lot! You know, that's one of the cornerstones of UI. It eases the muscle memory because menus are always at the same distance, and you reach and it stops. a pull down could have some semblance if the mouse was to stumble a virtual corner, this way you wouldn't have to be so precise while choosing the menu. _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. Who is the "they" you think you're referring to? This is a distro. The look is created by the distro creator. AROS started in the 90's, not the distro. The distro is created by one man, and was only created in the last few years. If you're going to attempt to antagonize perhaps learn what you're talking about 1st? |

Care to tell us *any* "alternative" OS that has extensive hardware support? AROS has the widest hardware support of any Amiga-noid OS. I'd call that a positive rather than a negative. |

| Looks nice but can you shrink the images? It ruins the front page. Yes I can see work has been out into this one but I don't want it in my face. |

| Sorry, but I do not have access to edit the news, probably users are not allowed to edit, or my 68 year old eyes do not see the "Edit" tab
The screenshot size is 860x645, usually a fair size and tolerated on all forums.
It would be helpful if there was an option to set a thumbnail (I did not see it), that way those who wanted to see the whole screenshot could click on the image _________________ AROS One Home Site AfA One Amiga OS 3.9

| Nice!
Although I don't like the "nice" bloated design of modern OSs (even on OS4 I use an OS3 inspired theme), AROS in its core is still a good old Amiga-like OS. Free and works on fast and affordable hardware (or under a virtual machine). There is really nothing to complain. |
