Amiga Kit Amiga Store is pleased to announce that the Greaseweazle V4.1 is now available with printed retail box packaging. Greaseweazle lets your PC/Mac/Linux box read real Amiga floppy disks and other floppy disk formats.

One simple reason is drivers. It uses a custom serial protocol to transfer data back and forth. I think it needs firmware to support mass storage standards to be compatible with all OS without needing a proprietary driver.

The Greaseweazle should be recognized as COM port on a PC, usually you could have more than one, so if the software is written correctly you could have access to more than one device at the same time.

I just purchased the previous version of this, fully enclosed with floppy drive on E-Bay in the United States. It is a great product and is reading my 25 year old Amiga disks.
