Thank God.....
It's been AT LEAST 3 or 4 days since someone tried cashing in on the popularity of retro with half assed emulation boxes that could be made better, more cheaply and in a quicker time by half of the people into the machine.

And then Amigakit come in, resolve that issue and give us all a good laugh in the process.

I’m surprised no one is going after the Amiga CD32 concept.

A black CD32 style case might be a good idea, but a CD reader wouldn't make much sense today.

USB and WiFi could give you keyboards, game controllers, USB memory and online stores.

---

I would like to see how good it will be in comparison to my RPi-4 running Amiberry.

The CD1200 is more compact and in my opinion, a better looking design.

I think y'all are missing the point. AmigaKit are not building yet another retro mini console.

While nostalgic housing would be the cherry on top, the goal is to provide the Amiga community with an updated 68k platform. Sure it's ready to run all our favourite classic games and apps, including some refreshed titles, but its also ready for any and all new 68k software.

Yes, I think it looks interesting. with its online capability if this grows to be a nice delivery hub for all the amiga game creators out there, it could be a positive development.

Its a shame that all the amiga partners can't get together & support this, if it had Amiga branding it would perhaps get more notice in the general retro market. Theres great potential for the platform.

In the future, If the Amiga partners sorted themselves out & ported AmigaOs4/5 to arm & A-Eon also released a custom arm based system for the higher end, the A600GS & the A500mini with AmigaOs4/5 could serve the lower end. Perhaps offer AmigaOs4/5 as an upgrade path to existing A600GS & A500mini users, this also could potentially expand the AmigaOs4/5 user base for their software delivery platform.

@agami

I was under the impression that this offering is limited to gaming. If it's an all around Amiga, that would be great. Of course my dream machine would be a new and improved A1200, but that's me.

It is a full system.. Check: https://wiki.amiga.org/index.php?title=A600GS#Software So why to label it as "game system" is a bit strange really..

@kriz

So you’re saying this A600GS is a fully functional Amiga?

An included updated Aladdin4D which A-Eon has owned for years would be nice as well. Or even included the current version which they still don’t sell for some reason.

Good to see them bundling some of their software acquisitions. Seems to offer maybe something a little different to the A500 mini?

Not keen on the trade marking of bits of Commodore's old IP, e.g. the stylised A600, logo, use of the checkmark.

Are they going to be including official ROMs from Cloanto?

Why not licence the Amiga name and Workbench?

Seems like they are creating yet another branch here of something resembling an 'Amiga'.

Curious to follow, but won't be buying.

@agami

Surely it's about as close to an updated 68k platform as a RPi running PiMiga?

As for software, I would love to see Imagine updated and included.
