Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : New software by Onyxsoft

OnyxSoft makes a long overdue release of some popular programs!

Updated programs

Annotate v3.1 - (OS3,OS4,MOS,AROS) A programmer's text editor with a lot of functions such as syntax highlighting.

- Major stability improvements. (However, I got news that the OS3 version fails on RTG hi/true color screens.)

- Big enhancements and optimizations of the syntax definitions, like CCS-like styles, and reading Autodocs.

- "Show all occurences" when selecting a piece of text.

- Search all opened files, by continuing Find Next.

- Anti-alias text font rendering on OS3 on hi/true-color screens.

- Various fixes.

- Organized sources and compiled a build environment that can build Annotate on OS3.

BackUp v1.93 - (68k) Backup program that mirrors a directory structure incrementally.

- NTFS filesystem awareness, which requires UTF8.

- NFS network drive fixes to prevent re-copying everything everytime.

- FAT filesystem awareness fixes.

- Copy speed indicator.

- Some other fixes and improvements.

MPlayer-GUI v1.62 - (OS4) GUI for MPlayer for OS4.

- This was actually released last year but never announced here.

- Added peg2ide.device, p1022sata.device and p50x0sata.device as options.

- Added new extensions for the file requester since newer MPlayer recognizes more formats.

- Some internal size limit fixes to allow longer paths and correct number of video drivers.

AllKeys v2.41 - (OS4) Hotkey program supporting most multimedia-keys, mouse buttons and wheels.

- This was actually released last year but never announced here.

- Add a work-around for the OS4 bug that leave numpad qualifier on any key and mouse button after the numpad has been used.

If you see a bug or have a suggestion, please don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail!

Just a comment about Annotate for AmigaOS3, 68k:
For some reason this version doesn't work at all when used on hi/true-color screens with Syntax highlighting enabled due to a fault in the new RGB font rendering with text anti-aliasing routine used, to be able to render syntax elements in RGB colour instead of just pen color.

I'm working on it. Strangly enough the 68k version works just fine on OS4 where I have tested it. However, when enabling the same code for the OS4 native version of Annotate it crashes immediately with a buffer overflow exception, so at least now I'm abe to debug it :)
Even more strangly that I have tested this using OS4/PPC native code when developing it and it then worked fine... oh well..?

Intermediate solution:
Start annotate and go directly into Config and disable Syntax->Use syntax highlighting. Press Save. Now it should work stable, but of course without syntax highlighting then...
Or you can edit the Annotate.xml file which can be in ENVARC: or in the current dir if you have saved the config from before, and change the UseSyntax element from 1 to 0.

Annotate is my preferred text editor to code in C under OS4/MOS, thanks a lot for your update!
I hope this project will be updated more often and will integrate a sort of IDE to support GCC compiler just like FlowStudio under MOS.

Annotate v3.1.1 has been released, but the news item about it seems to have been ignored...

It fixes the crash in the OS3 68k version, and makes the error about the missing docref a bit more useful.

@Tuxedo

Was??! You left the scene? That's too bad now when Ann is about to get real good!

v3.1 already includes "Find Next" through all opened files which makes it easier to find all occurences of something.

v3.2 will have a full Search function to find all occurences of something, presented in a list, including other not opened files in the same dir/subdir and of the same format (#?.c, #?.h f.ex.).

v3.3 will have tab completion! Recording keywords (and syntax tokens) and suggest these when typing, like any modern editor. Plan is to make it smart, suggesting words recently used, and in close proximity of the cursor first.
