You want to influence the future direction of software development for the platform then you need to put your money where you mouth is.
You make a lot of good points and I tend to agree that people who donate should have more say in what is developed. However I don't went to discourage any ideas or opinions from non-donators. They might just end up buying the software we commission, (at full price, not discounted). Some of these issues have been covered is the following thread.
