this suggests the X1000 will be running a PWRficient PA6T-1682M -- something apple has previously vowed to make available as a condition of its acquistion of PAsemi a couple of years ago. and anything apple-related, even indirectly, is going to have a ridiculous veneer of secrecy around it. that's just how apple operates.

i'd say this qualifies as a big 'oops' at this point. i doubt such a leak was deliberate.

Look at devices 08 and 09 on bus 00, and then look up that vendor/device id pair in the same list :)


The machine also has a Realtek 8168 gigabit ethernet chip (which would be the onboard one), an AMD SB600 south bridge with all sorts of integrated stuff, as well as a Radeon 9200 Pro and a Realtek 8139 Fast Ethernet card (those last two would be the PCI cards).

Hyperion did actually make ShowConfig just print a cheeky message, but it seems someone found a copy of the "real" ShowConfig....

The message is actually at the top of that screenshot. Seems like someone forgot that modern (and semi-modern) processors show up as PCI nodes all over the place, and thus did not hobble ShowConfig enough.

(Or maybe they *did* hobble it, making it output a fake PCI list, just to play with people's minds.... Certainly what I'd be doing in that situation :)

BTW, you saw the XMOS chip on the X1000 board in the glass case? It was there in that one, but I think in the board in the black X1000 case, it wasn't.

I think the glass case version had the latest revision, with the XMOS chip.

Hmm.. and someone said to me when I suggested using Barrys Arexx Memory scanner to dump the memory list, that it would just give you the numbers and not the text.

Looks like the numbers are all you need 8)

I couldnt try out my A1200 CF hard card on it either.. similar reasons.. see how the JIT etc was operating if any.

For somemthing that was got working only the night before. .in true Amiga launch style, the bits I saw, with having to be the other end of teh tent, was very nice indeed. That is. .working.

So, given the style of chip, does it have to have specific methods of data structures, for running both cores, or can it possibly use the secodn core as a CoPro.. the one AOS can currently access sets up DMA, messages etc, then prods the second core?

Just how Does a multi core machine work, that is Different to the Classic Amigas multiprocessor design, or a network render cluster as used by Screamernet etc?

I would be very happy, some benchs posted at amiga.org suggest it is similar to a core-2 duo as far as processing power goes (if clocked the same), do we know more about it? Is this a a better than G5 core?
