@tonyw

re command history thingy:

Comment out tooltype NOHISTORY in ASyncWB's icon. The default has sensibly been changed to not record everything you type (perhaps Microsoft would like to take notes)

re USB thingy:

My USB flash drive which worked perfectly under Update 3 does not mount under Update 4 unless it is inserted before the USB stack is started. If you put it in afterwards, most of the time it flickers on/off in the MSD commodity (ctrl-alt-m), although it does work occasionally.

I tried both my Voodoo3 and my Radeon9250, but ALL warp3d software I tried will either crash, freeze, freeze on exit, or produce serious rendering errors. (I tried warpview, glquake, quake2, wipeout, gearsdemo, warptest and glsokoban.)

I haven't heard any reports about the new Warp3D working like it should either.

Can anyone confirm the new warp3d works on their system?

Kind regards,

Dennis

Thanks a lot Stephen_Robinson & Xenic!

I'm happy to say it was just because I had an old version of Mixer. Thanks to
Davey for Mixer too, of course.

Downloaded and ran it and now audio is fine again! Yay!!! Also just got a
Wireless LAN setup so I'm doubly happy! Thanks to AmigaKit for the really
quick delivery. It works a charm.

Glad to be of Service. Shame my Bloomin CD-drive has just gone and died on me, second one too, Hmmm.

No one else with a µ in Antec Aria case got similar complaints or is just one of those things...?

Also I seem to have a USB drive problem, but I'll have a play around first to see if I can fix it, or find out more.

KeyShow can no longer be used with the keyboard, only with the mouse, because
its a virtual keyboard now :)

Gluecode files (#?.?.main) are searched in LIBS: and CLASSES: but not in
CLASSES:Gagdgets/, when moving that file Media Toolbox will probably no longer
work?

@wegster

Having problems with printing graphics. With update3 using:

printer.device 51.11 (18.12.05)
parallel.device 50.4 (18.7.04)
a1parallel.device 51.4 (26.10.05)
HP_DeskJet_690C (30.11.1999) (the printer driver)

I managed to print graphics (for example jpeg pictures with Multiview) with no
problems but had severe problems with AWeb printing. It did a narrow horizontal
strip of pure black. Only way to get Aweb to print correctly was to change to
8bit screen and change to very-old HP550C printer driver. With OS3.9 I had made
a program which printed out a large bitmap with the strip printing technique
perfectly. In OS4 the same program has always printed only the first strip.

Now with OS4upd4 and using the provided drivers in it:

printer.device 51.11 (18.12.05)
a1parallel.device 51.4 (26.10.05)
HP_DeskJet_690C (29.9.1999) (is this older one?)

I print using Multivew and get somewhat good result in the top part of the
picture (about one third). Then there comes a line of odd characters (seem to be
the higher part of the ASCII table like graphic marks, smileys etc), may be a
form feed and the printing continues with the picture. Now AWeb can print with
this driver more correctly but these odd lines of characters come with a regular
interval (maybe from strip printing?)

So what's the problem with this printing?

Marko

Using A1XE-800, OS4upd4 (fresh install), HP690C printer

The remapping from parallel.device to a1parallel.device is commented out

parallel.device which fails because its not there...

Yes. I know. I have been posting similar in other threads.

Quote:
Delete parallel.device, change NSDPatch.cfg, select a1parallel.device in
Prefs/Printer, reboot, then a1parallel.device should work.

On cold boot I open PrinterPrefs. It contains a default file "acquired" from
env: I change some settings and save. I "cold start". Same default file from
env: is there. If I choose "last saved" I recover my settings.
Note:After boot and starting 68k PrinterPrefs I see that the file
SYS:prefs/env-archive/printer.prefs is NOT equal to the file ENV:sys/printer.prefs
In addition: one user (at least) has reported a DSI on changing from b&w printing
to color in PrinterPrefs. DSI task "Nicole" which refers to the graphic of a
woman named "Nicole" at the right of tab#3.

TurboPrint installed? IIRC it messes with the prefs, and my 7.x version
is incompatible to even OS3.9 which introduced printer.device units 1 to 9...

Prefs/Printer is the last remaining 68k prefs editor from OS3.9, its buggy
and we dont have its sources. I've rewritten it, had to start from the OS3.1
(non-ReAction) sources, the only thing still missing is the print preview
picture (Nicole). When its done...

I don't think Andy (Broadblues) ever claimed print was working as hoped in
AWeb APL lite. He is certainly free to correct me on this.
System printing -will- print web pages under Voyager 3.2. I have successfully
done this under both update#3 and now under update#4.

No printer here which works without TurboPrint so I can only guess.
Does switching back to the Deskjet driver from update 3 help?
If not, please test if using printtofile.device instead of a1parallel.device
and then copying the output file to PAR: makes a difference.
When that also doesnt help try the old 68k version of printer.device,
I'm hoping that this doesnt fix it because we dont have its sourcecode...

I'll test this evening by disabling some things. I have someone else to test with
nearly identical hardware/software combo. I'll post back here with my version #'s
and anything else I feel is relevant.

You understand then why I can not have confidence in any settings I might make
and save. I have an idea for an intermediate fix. If successful (after I test it),
I will let you know.

btw-Big thanks! for your confirmation and all of your help.

Please see my post above regarding my current understanding of the AWeb situation
regarding printing.
I am able to print just fine with Voyager 3.2 under update#4 with the correct
setup we have discussed.

Is that the AmigaOS Date command or some Unix stuff? ("Which Date").
When its C:Date, which language and country is selected in locale prefs?

There's an outstanding bug with printing under OS4 update 3. I haven't tried under update 4 to see if it works now.
