@GrumpyOldMan

Same exact problem I had, nothing worked until I edited the paths in those 2 scripts to point to the arexx scripts & now it works.

script as downloaded: rx s:youtube_play.rexx {URL}

path I needed: rx s:arexx/ibrowse/youtube_play.rexx {URL}

The only other thing I changed was the mplayer line to 'c:mplayer >nil: t:temp.flv' to eliminate any problems with mplayer options.

Any mplayer options can be added after you get the scripts working. My line, after everything works, is 'c:mplayer >nil: -vm -x 480 -y 360 t:temp.flv' which increases the video size a small amount.

@sundown

If you placed files in a different dir, it is normal that you needed that modification, the scripts were ready to use with the files copied to s:, as the readme stated.

@GrumpyOldMan

Nice to see that you finally solved it. I could not even imagine what was wrong because I tried the scripts from different locations (in ram:, in IB /arexx dir, in s:), with rx in c:, and all they worked fine. In fact, I cannot understand this need to have rx in s:Arexx/ , it's quite strange...

Saluditos,

Ferrán.

@Atheist

Asked me: Do you have a registered version of IBrowse?

Yes v. 1 and again IB2. Have 9 browsers open at the moment;)

From the Depot's script from Ferran I get:

Command returned 5/1: Program not found

After copying the RX from c: to s: too I get:

rx: Unknown command

I give up again.

New version uploaded to OS4Depot: wget line deleted from the Play-only version, now MPlayer does the job, and movie file is not saved, but stored in allocated-on-purpose RAM, that is deallocated at exit.

@Ferry

I've got this working on IBrowse, but I have a couple of questions:

1) How do I get the IBrowse output window NOT to appear?

2) Could you make a new release with a save but not play option? I tried it myself by just commenting out the Mplayer line in the Arexx script but I don't know if that's the best or most efficient way to do it.

3) I notice you have IBrowse execute a script which runs an Arexx script. Couldn't you just run the Arexx script straight from IBrowse?

Amazing that a pc, even using FireFox, can't save YouTube videos but Amigas can!

Thanks for all your work!!

Errmm, hate to dissapoint you there dear fellow, but FireFox can save YouTube files using
AddOn :
Ook? Video Ook!

YouTube files are only FLV files. You then just need a player or codec that will play your ripped YouTube film.

@PR

try to add the S protection bit to the "S:YouTube_Play" script as well

Edit- ah.... when you perform some modification in IB preferences, save it and exit from IB. (and run it again)

Why? no clue really.

@Ferry

the only problem i have is that only Save&Play works here.

Does this line have a mistake/typo? (from me)

say title
say 'http://'location

address command 'c:mplayer >nil: -ao ahi_dev' 'http:// 'location

or

address command 'c:mplayer >nil: -ao ahi_dev http://'location

Thanks!

The space in 'http:// ' looks wrong to me.

The next thing I would do is to remove the >nil: and see if you get any error messages. You could also try running the command from the shell where it might be easier to see any output. Hopefully that will give you a clue as to what is wrong.

Robert

I stand corrected.

I know that in Firefox you can USUALLY grab embedded videos by selecting 'Page Info' from the menu, clicking the 'media' tab and finding the video from the list. That doesn't work with YouTube videos.

That didn't work, but adding ">NIL:" to the Shell script (just after "rx") did.

I have been getting exactly the same problem. After some testing it looks as if the RX command is not managing to parse arguments passed to it from a shell.

I see that the RX command in OS4 pre 4 is larger than the old RX command on an OS3 partition. I renamed my newer RX command and copied the old OS3.9 RX command into C: and thing seem to work. The old 68k version of RX will now accept commands passed to it.

One for the OS4 developers. Is there a known problem with the PPC version of RX ?

Hi,

Now that copying an old RX seems to have helped, I have another question this time mplayer related.

All the movies seem to play on the workbench screen rather than my IBrowse screen. Does mplayer have a screen or pubscreen option so that the movies will play on my IB screen without things suddenly being flipped onto the WB ?

Yes, use an older version instead for now (like you just did). Sorry about that. It was one of those last minute changes that bite you things.
