Christian way of counting: Sunday is the last day of the week. AFAIK Pope Gregorius put that in a decrete some time ago. Many, many other factions in our society take Saturday as the final day of the week.

Here in Europe are still a few hours to go till the end of the week. So go Adam, go!

To be serious: Why always this sort of announcements of announcements? Pure sadism?

I think the announcement was AS SOON AS the first week of January. It wasn't guaranteed to be this week.

Nope, you think wrong. Adam said in this post:

Quote:
What isn't clear about new hardware being available in the press release? There will be new hardware to run Amiga OS 4.0 and an announcement will be made in the first week of January, and the source may surprise you.

Of course, I didn't believe it then, but I do think it will be announced real soon.

And it's not necessarily ACK making the announcement...

Amiga Week = Not less than ONE, but no more than INFINITY. . . .

So, there's still time . . .

I'm not going to add to the conjecture, I'll wait and see what (if anything) comes along in the new year.

Yea, he would have been here starting new threads by now, even if the decision wasn't final yet.

@ thread

Darn!

I read this whole thread thinking I was finally going to find out what the Mystery Device is.

@Moxee

The "mystery device" was a PDA-design-study by IBM that never went into production (was revealed a year ago or so).

From the transcript of Bill McEwen's recorded speech played at Pianeta Amiga:
Quote:
As mentioned in my 20 questions, back a couple of years ago, Amiga and then IBM began working together on their Artic reference platform which was a Power PC 405 embedded chip and what an exciting project that was. The Frieden brothers worked very hard and we actually had a working prototype on that project, only to have IBM turn around and sell their embedded chip division and slightly stall us. Well, while that happened, there is a team and a group of people in Italy who've developed a new piece of hardware based off of the next generation of that power pc chip, the power pc 440 and I have been very pleased in working with the Samantha team, and I know they'll be showing you this new product, and we're looking forward to getting OS4 on that platform and available as this will allow us to have new products, new hardware. In running with the PowerPC 440, it will enable new product types to be delivered in the portable area, in handhelds, in lightweights.

Stephane Guillard (reported by Amont) showed OS4 running on this device at the Alchimie show in France in 2005.
