Any NEWS about something on irc or anywhere?

Would it change anything if they would make yet another pointless announcement (of an announcement)?

Despite me not actually distrusting the guy I'd have to say a working motherboard demoed, running OS4 in front of people is one of the few things that would produce any positive comments.

I don't think that will even cut it. ACK needs to ship some high quality product(s) now. Behind the scenes, I understand why things have not happened according to plan. But the forum dwelling public clearly needs shipping product before anything positive will be said again. Pictures and even live demos will not cut it now.

We all know ACK's reputation is totally shot. Similar has happened to Troika. A-Cube Systems have managed to hold up so far but deadlines are looming. Despite all the negativity and totally blown self imposed deadlines I still believe somebody (sans ancient lawsuits) will be able to provide some new hardware to run AmigaOS 4.0 on. AmigaOS is like the undead--you can't kill it! [evil laugh]

The undead? Sure you can. In fact, my Night Elf rogue absolutely DESTROYS undead cloth wearers. Why just the other day I was grinding in Un' Goro Crater, and....

Oh, sorry, OT.

Yeah, maybe a demo does not cut it.

I think A^3 has done it the right way. "don't say jack sh!t unless there is substance to what you say"

oh well, time will tell.

Well, if Acube do ship and they are the only ones, then it might be for the best in the short term.
The best scenario I can see at the moment is if Acube do great with OS4/Sam sales and fantastic with Linux/Sam sales.
This way we get a strong Acube and this will hopefully bring in more people. Then, later on, if ACK and Troika are still around then they will benefit from the bigger community.

What is the timeline for Sam?

Well, I think it was also stated earlier that the SAM guys also have a higher end board in their future plans, but time will tell.

Figure it out.

Not meaning to be too pedantic, but that only supports your assertion. It certainly provides no conclusive evidence that nothing has happened and nothing ever will.

The last thing he said was that he wasn't going to say any more about his hardware projects until it's ready to demonstrate. Whether you believe he's going to get it done or not, that should suit you just fine. In your case, you're not expecting any announcement to come for the reasons you've stated.

It's worse than that, Adam Kowalczyk is a thief. There will never be any hardware from ACK Software because this guy is just out to scam anyone he can. :P

I sent in an XE to be fixed by him over a year ago and payed him for the work and he still hasent sent it back.

Whoops that sounds wierd !
Did you try to contact him, mail, phone ? Maybe he has forgotten
all about it.

Ivan's not the only one Adam has treated this way with ppl's hardware.
Contacting him hasn't helped in the one case I know about.

Chip also sent him an XE board to be fixed, it took him ages to get it back. Adam is not a thief, but he is not very reliable, you have to keep nagging him.

@COBRA

OK, so that is basicly the same behaviour as DCE. So why do we want him to produce any Amiga stuff then? We will just end up with the same guarantee problems and repair problems DCE had. I don't think we need such a type of Amiga company ever again Amiga land.

@PulsatingQuasar

i beg to differ on this.

DCE is a solid and running company (AFAIK) which deliberately decided to end the Amiga Classic boards production/support in a very un-professional (if not illegal) way.

Who's ACK? no clue exactly but nothing compared to DCE (that still withholds boards and hence money, of several ex/customers)

Adam Kowalczyk worked for MAI Logic from March 04 to early Sept 04 on a contract basis working to finalize the MicroA1-C and I.
He was perhaps better known as Livewire. (AmigaOne dealership)
In addition he played a larger part behind the scenes to attempt to help Eyetech further their line of AmigaOnes.
He also brought numerous proposals for solutions to Amiga Inc over the years regarding "stop gap" measures while other hardware was being developed.
And yes...he needs a business manager.
