Just to be clear: "from our side" refers to the "Trio" (Soft3, VirtualWorks and AHG) and our news is unrelated from the one mentioned by ACK

Neither did they invent Unix or Linux and look what they are doing.

Another thing to ponder: Even if Eyetech themselves no longer have their own licence, do they still have a say on who else is to be granted a licence?

No they don't, but maybe Genesi (or someone else) could approach them with a suggestion like - "hey Alan, you have a license to sell OS4 enabled AmigaOne computers, how about this, we have this new hardware we'd like to sell as AmigaOne's, we take care of everything, the production, the distribution, the warranty issues, everything, and we pay you $50 per unit for letting us piggyback your deal with no effort whatsoever from your side?"

Not that I think it's realistic, it was just a thought...

You're not the only one having thought about this! And why would it lack sense of reallity? I, for one, would not be surprised at all if this scenario popped up.

Commodore would be a brilliant surprise, however their products seem very Microsoft centric. Weren't they talking about Windows Embedded CE 6.0:
HERE

I'd welcome a correction, or even Commodore becoming involved. I even recall one of the motherboards looking very similar to a Set Top Box unit and Commodore's InHouse product seems like a Set Top Box to me. But for some reason I think Commodore is probably more in alliance with MS than Amiga at the moment, look on the blog site, every blog mentions Microsoft products.

what info could ACK know, and from where?

Well, I don't know how good his info is or where he got it - or even WHAT it really is for that matter - but I do know that he appears to have been very very well connected with either all or some of the players involved in bringing the AmigaOne and AOS4 to life (AInc., Eyetech and/or Hyperion) seeing as he helped develop some of the drivers for the Amiga One for AOS4 from what I had understood at the Amiga Show in Ottawa, Canada back in 2004. He sourced the first MicroA1 boards to Canada from my understanding. He had boards with the serials 1-20 at that show - I bought what ultimately turned out to be unlucky number 7!

Wasn't AmigaInc supposed to show a new OS4 compatible mainboard a couple of months ago? Maybe they'll finally tell us what they had...

Kind regards,

Dennis

Interesting:
Hey! For God's sake, don't insult them!

And I am serious about that. I think we can all agree on
the fact that the Italians and Troika NG are playing in pretty
different leagues..

However, this thread is about ACK. Will ACK announce
anything this week? I'm not sure. He has been working
on his products for a long time, but his partnership with
Jens Schoenfeld failed, concerning those A1200 con-
nectors. If he announce anything it will be the replace-
ment AmigaONE MegArray CPU-cards.

But they would be very welcomed concidering all dying
Eyetech AmigaONE CPUs.

So ACK this week and the Italians next week could
actually give some hope for some final results..

@ironfist

Do you all really have faith in what ACK says? ACK's comments should be taken with extream caution because he has made comments here that have excited everyone into a frenzy only to let the AW community down by missing every single release date and every show from what I have heared and read.

Before you scream hey stop picking on poor Adam remember that he made these announcements and he was the one to not come through. We did not here anything from Amiga or HYPERION about his so called release dates.

My say in this is to listen (read) closely what HYPERION says because they actually have a working product at least(yes I know it is not yet availble to the masses but at least we have seen enough of it to know it is not vapor).

Hyperion will say they are not a hardware company and can't speak for any hardware vendors. Hyperion has said something should be release soon. But as we know hyperion can't controll what or when another party releases hardware so untill Hyperion says " yes we have written boot code and firmware for this board and it allows AOS4 to function well" then we will have a hint. Till then......

According to Babelfish, there's something about an announcement the first week of January and the source may surprise some.

Well, here we are at the end of the week, but don't fret! I bet you guys never guessed that I would be the one making the new hardware announcement, but I guess micracles never cease. So here it is: I got a new Mac Mini!

Hey, nobody ever said it would be an OS4 related announcement.

He never said that they "Ack Controls" would announce anything, just that an announcement would be made in the first week of January by someone that might surprise you!

and depends where in the world that comes from they still might have quite a few hours left to announce it, it isn't the next week until it passes 23.59.59 where ever they are based.

but I do wish they'd hurry up
