Stupid i say.. considering that most of northern hemisphere experience winter weather well before winter solstice, with the exception of regions closer to equator. Summer also arrives well 20-22 of june as well.
In northern norway, you dont even have sunlight in for example november, so how can it not be winter?

I guess I would get mad if I lived in Finnmark and lost my clock. On the other hand I would only sleep/eat when I felt I need it so it would be more natural I guess that's the reason there's a lot of skandinavian software despiting the fact that these countries aren't too crowded

Yes, above the Arctic-circle, during Summer the Sun can shine 24 hours a day, during the Winter, it does not rice above the horizon, so night 24 hours a day.


@To those who has not experienced the Midnight Sun, try to catch it once, it is worth it, the feeling in the middle of the "night" when the Sun shined straight from the North was incredible.
I did experience it when I did my military service, I was stationed North of Rovaniemi in Finland in end of June, when the Midningh Sun was at its peak.

This is not surprising at all. You left out all the *BSDs, all the various incarnations of BeOS, OS/2, NeXTStep, Solaris, TOS/MiNT, and a whole lot of other desktop OSs, quite a few of which have considerably more active users than AmigaOS or MorphOS. So if those other OSs do not count as an additional choice, why does AmigaOS?

Yeah, although it really "got me" when I was lying in my tent, thinking "I'll just read until it gets too dark, and then go to sleep"... Next I looked at my watch, it was actually midnight :)

Ah, the days of careless hitchhiking, with no deadlines, no appointments... Oh yes, those were also the days of hooking up with a bunch of students in Rovaniemi, for a night of utter boozing on their part --- and me driving the car (probably illegally, but it sure was better than *them* driving :).

I need to get myself back to Finland *sigh* Such a lovely place!

Some completely offtopic news story i read a year or two ago:
There was some american couple who came on vacation to northern norway to see the midnight sun. They got furious and demanded a refund when they discovered that the midnight sun was infact the same exact same sun that shined over usa They apparently thought that it was a entirely different sun that was shining over Norway and felt ripped off when they discovered that this was not the case.
