Any news on how Dropbox is progressing, I don't use any cloud computing but if it became possible through Dropbox I'd consider using it.

Cool job on the Tron project. Are you using Cinema4d or PC/MAC?

Drop box would be boon for the amiga world. Makes it easy to xfer files instead of samba silliness

now that def would be an incentive :)

thou still there are limitations imposed by Dropbox, but if I were to make a Amiga app that syncs files, then there has to be an app of an equal nature on the PC side to act for conformity. This is down to functions of the PC client which is not made public, and not hackable ;) So any files that are modified can only be uploaded(sync) by my App on Amiga/Windows and not the original client.

So still some things to work around.

Of course would be nice to have the source code direct from Dropbox ( maybe we could do the same as with spotify)

Just visited the dropbox dev site, seems their adding more functionality for app developers. Theres now a function to know whats changed on the server so this helps alot.

Gonna now analyse all the api again and start a proper design plan to implement

Right, making progress, now setup my environment to compile with SQLite3( Database back-end) this will hold all the hash values and rev data for the files to be synced. Both my Windows and AmigaOS4 version compile, thou haven't tested it on my Amigaone yet.

Next stage would be to implement a JSON Parser(text readable data that comes from dropbox), there are some public parsers but I may make a simple one dedicated for this project.

Final area to investigate and get working is OS4 File notifications, this will tell my app to schedule a file sync when the file changes.

I used the Mozilla SpiderMonkey javascript library for parsing JSON. Works really nice and was quite easy to do aswell.

I made a few classes which might be usable.

Progress so far -

Database library backend is working fine on my Amigaone.
My simple JSON parser is almost complete

Once I get the external dependencies and core dropbox functions complete then the synchronization side can be modeled.
