Well it doesn`t but first time they claim to have something special in beta 6 version.
About higher prices, my devotion to them since 64x release was Lady Chann - Money Ah Dem God (Screw Dem Riddim 2010)

Because it's CUSA. Thats been pretty much the justification for the prices the entire time. _________________ My personal blog - CritAnime.com

| I wanted to download this and give it a try but 8gb is way too much, hopefully they have 2 .iso files in the torrent and I can just choose the OS image and ignore the extras disk since I don't want all the apps that I can choose to download individually.
Fair enough shipping 2 discs with the machines but I can't see the point in having to download the second disc at the same time when everything is available from Synaptic. Maybe its needed right now for testing the installer and they will be available separately later. _________________

Disc 1 is the Commodore OS Vision base install. Disc 2 is the Commodore OS VIsion Extras.
Each ISO is available in a separate torrent. Last edited by BigBentheAussie on 12-Nov-2011 at 12:39 AM.

That is called the PR - promoting non existing product on the market
@Franko
On forum they promised to reupload to Megaupload. Edit: user wanted to do so, but they said its official, so its better to seed it on torrents
Its both usefu methods of dissemination, yes, but doesn`t look pro.
Even Linux free distros have direct downloads.
Remembering such small details (like with web site growing from scatchy to queen video to now fancy glow and we have seen amiga gray as next) Hyperion does tend to look pro.

More to advertising then to product quality. Otherwize they wouldn`t mass commercialize beta 6 of OS. "Market penetration via mass and viral marketing" is the mantra.

Nothing wrong with having a vision but this kind of vision should be more than what you can already see everywhere else.
Chinese car makers usually have a vision, problem is that their vision was always of other manufacturers cars so they copied them then another chinese car maker had a vision of a car called MG, bought the name and stuck it on a car that was nothing like an MG, nobody outside china really noticed except for a few die hard MG fans so they sold 400 this year in the UK. Putting a name on something that only plays lip service to the things that used to wear that name will only get you so much attention until people realise that it's no better than they can buy from other companies that are a known quantity, they give up caring after the initial buzz wears off and move on.
MG are the commodore of the car world and as an MG and Commodore fan I would like to see both make products that really embody the spirit of what they used to be but all i see from both right now are sub standard products and a very unprofessional public face.
Maybe CommodoreUSA should try selling in china, that may be a lucrative market for them, MG is doing ok there._________________

Thanks, that's good to hear, I'll give it a try at some point soon but don't have a spare hard disk to install on.
I take it that it will also run from the DVD as is common on most linux distros these days? if so I won't have to wait so long. _________________

Here is the summary of Good people`s with vision visionary deeds
They already have the name. If you ment they want the brand to be back, its only because of the own interest (same as with Amiga, none of the community proposals even on Commodore Amiga for case, OS, pricing was accepted). No doubt two prominent CUSA promoters from Australia and Croatia would give em a chance.
More PR then all together since Commodore died?
Hmmm ... Commodore died, Amiga died, only USA didn`t die. So its American Zombie part 2011.
But everyone decides where to go in life and what to do.Last edited by vox on 12-Nov-2011 at 01:23 AM.

If os4 was rewritten from zero, why people still claim that it is from os 3.1 sources?. I'm hearing always the same, rewritten from zero, but used the original sources. Could you explain me how anything could be original and written from scratch when it is using previous sources????? Sheesh. I made that question long time ago, and nobody semed to answer it. So, for certain things it is using the sources and from other things is written from scratch?.

Completely off topic, but for your amusement. To my rememberance: By time, work and patience is the answer my friend.
OS was ported part by part to PPC. In early developer releases many components were stil 68k. Gradualy, some addituonal functionality, such as PPC PDF viewer was added. ExecSG was new main component, but with every update previously just ported libs and components went to new versions, with new SFS and other components, some of them previously unavail for OS 3.x Since port was done from OS 3.1 in some aspects OS 4.1 lacks some OS 3.9 functionality http://www.intuitionbase.com/os4features.pdf from 2003 one of the eraliest documents Here is the Amigans way to read improvements: http://www.gregdonner.org/workbench/wb_4x.html http://www.gregdonner.org/workbench/wb_40.html http://www.gregdonner.org/workbench/wb_41.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AmigaOS_versions
So its today features were mostly previously unavail http://www.amigaos.net/content/1/features
Added just in update 3 of OS 4.1 http://www.amigaos.net/content/2/what%E2%80%99s-new
History of OS 4.x http://www.amigaos.net/content/10/history-amigaos
So it`s really a port, but today its quite a long way from there Last edited by vox on 12-Nov-2011 at 01:15 AM.

I have been trying to give them a chance for the last 18 months or so but have so far only seen some terrible pr gaffs, a very misplaced advert in a tron dvd for a product that's not ready yet, a nicely constructed but poorly thought out replica C64 case and a website that looks like it was created by a 15 year old in 1996.
I'm willing to wait a little longer, give Commodore Linux a chance to be more than Mint with a blue theme, a ready prompt and a few chicken heads. I may seem negative about CommodoreUSA but I do keep an open mind and am willing to be impressed by them. I don't really care about the name being back, it was a fine name to have on my C64 and Amigas but unless they produce something that's as good now as they were in their time and isn't just a regular PC running a regular linux distro that I can buy anywhere or build myself then I will always have to pass, looking at the products they so far plan, there will be no hardware that I will be interseted in but if their OS turns out well, i could probably see myself using it but not if it's just a skin on a Ubuntu derivative. I will wait and see how things go from here._________________

like you I have given them oppertunity to show they can be a serious contender. I was even ready at one point to hand over my hard earned cash. However my semi-concious blurb I did when I got home from work, you can see here, sums up how I feel about the situation.
I doubt my view will change but if they can prove otherwise then I might be more open to them. _________________ My personal blog - CritAnime.com
