@Rob

I think that the only way to fix the bad blood is to raise the money for both the sources and the ports. If not it gives everyone an excuse to blame each other for things not working out.

I was going to check my finances after Christmas and most likely donate then but after all the negative vibes over the last few days I don't really feel that I want to now.

I did not reference any past events and certainly did not intent to do so.

I was speaking about a purely hypothetical scenario that is frequently referenced by people spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt about the Odyssey funding campaign.

What da hell, bounty is simple - for releasing source code of MorphOS OWB.

only allow port to AROS not os4.

If that ends up being the case, I'll need to withdraw my $20 donation to opensource this web browser. My donation was for opensource code that could be used by OS4 or AROS developers. I think Fab does great work, and I'd love to see his latest web browser available for OS4 through the talents of those wonderful coders who have been porting things like Dopus5 and QT to OS4.

@kas1e

Thanks. So, if funded, there is no risk of this bounty not delivering a working AmigasOS4.x version with the same feature set that exists on other platforms?

There are never any guarantees in software development, but it is encouraging to read that kas1e is still working on MUI-OWB for AmigaOS4.x, or he would be willing to work on a new/revised port when/if the source code is released (assuming that the bounty gets funded).

To everyone else in this thread, thank you for (mostly) staying on topic and not completely flaming each other. Tensions seem to be rising in this thread though, so I encourage all of you to step back, take a deep breath and think carefully before you post any comments that could cause this thread to go down the toilet in a hurry.

I do not believe that any of the posts so far were meant to intentionally insult any person, or group of users, or developers, but some comments might not have been worded carefully, given the past history of bad blood between certain groups of users and programmers.

As a user of AmigaOS4.x and owner of an X1000 system, who also owns and uses MorphOS3.x systems and knows the great features and smooth operation of the latest Odyssey web browser, I hope that this bounty gets fully funded. I have no doubt that kas1e, or some other very talented AmigaOS4.x third party programmer will take the released source code and produce a better working Odyssey web browser for AmigaOS4.x.

I also hope for further improvements to the Timberwolf web browser, as I see it as a very different project, even though both are web browsers based on modern programs found on other platforms. Each has it's own merits and short comings, but both deserve the support of AmigaOS4.x users

So........, please keep this thread civil and clean, because I fear it is on the edge of going into areas that will require moderation and nobody wants that to happen.

As an X1000 user, I've stepped up and donated. I'd have liked to have had confirmation that there was someone actively waiting to do the port first, but I'm going to roll the dice and hope that someone will step up and donate their time and effort once the code is released.

@xmas87
i cant say 100% exactly date of os4 port once sources will be released, but if fab didnt change too much it should be easy. once bounty will done, then there will be also mediamplayer sources (so youtube in a window of browser), but that one use as fab says a bit of cgx extensions, so will need a bit of work to make it works on p96 or cgx emulation (that can be said after sources will be open)

as for all other features: mostly all the same, but some parts maybe different. no promises of course, but at least 1.16 port will out very soon, so you can donate to fabs bounty just even for that we have and will have on christmas

Guys, just let's not get dragged into another stupid camp war. Until the bounty is met and the code is released, spread your favourite OS on your daily toaster bread and eat it.
