So (speculation) it is likely based on an early snapshot (2006) of the original MUI4 beta, and thus very likely legal, because only stunzi would have given access to such code.
Kind regards, Andrea |

From a readme file...
It was ported throughout the development of AmigaOS4 by Thore Böckelmann and Jens Maus and added as a contribution to the AmigaOS4 operating system with full permissions of Stefan Stuntz. |
That text sounds fine (and I doubt it would be written if not backed up by facts). I just find it a litte irritating that this MUI fork is also called MUI4. Because MUI4 OS4 and MUI4 are not fully identical.
Anyway, as said I appreciate that achievement as it is not only good for actual OS4 users, but also for the rest of the community as it helps to develop for the several Amiga favours with lesser effort. Would appreciate it even more if there was also a release for 68k and AROS - then all Amiga flavours would share a common GUI toolkit.
Let Reaction RIP now...

| There has been a lot of speculation on the legitimacy of the product. But as neither Stephan or the MorphOS developers have complained its not that relevant except to the argumentative.
An improved version of MUI with increased compatibility with latter versions is a boon to OS4 users.
And MorphOS developers have one less stumbling block to overcome in porting software.
I've already had people today speculate that I am uniformed.
Well, I have exchanged messages with Steve Solie and one of the Freidens in the past, and harbor no ill will to either.
Its hard to develop in this community where passions always run so high.
Doing so long term is an act of devotion. |

| @sundown I added update.amigaos.net but it is now asking me for a Username & Password.
What do I use?
@WeiXing3D
In the server tab, you should have 'update.amigaos.net', no quotes, & the second box checked.

Unfortunately in my case all of my updates are installed and the new Mui 4 is not one of them. Mui 3.9 is the latest on my Sam460 system. I have tried adding the update.amigaos.net address to my servrs list via AmiUpdate but it complains that the connection has failed. I can't install the Odessey Web browser until I get MUI 4 installed.

Yep, looks like my source was slightly wrong. Btw it is not that much different to MUI 4.2 because OS4 port includes classes which were introduced later. It is probably compatible enough to port Odyssey without workarounds. I guesstimate it lacks some pieces but that is what developers are for. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

Check you don't have an old copy of muimaster.library in libs, it should be in mui/libs.
You might also have an unneeded libs/mui drawer with old classes in. (They go in sys:mui IIRC)
Hope this helps.

i have tested and used this for a long time now, love it to bits and MUI4 is one of those things that is pretty high on the "most wanted" list, lets hope that MUI4 will open a new bright future for both MorphOS and AmigaOS in terms of new apps and such as it is pretty clear to me which system a developer will chose, MUI4 or Reaction and this can only be a positive thing as it may double sales or users and in the end motivate people to create more / new stuff.
big thanks to everyone involved in MUI4 , may it be MorphOS devs, OS4 devs and 3rd party.

Wow, great news! What an amazing year this has been for OS4 users....
An OS4 native version of Directory Opus Magellan An OS4 native version of QT 4.7 with dozens of applications (and possibly QT 5 on its way...) The Games CD compilation.....
and now MUI4!
Merry Christmas to all!

| okay, now that we have MUI4 (or something very close) and Odyssey 1.16, (which I am using to type this), how exactly do I get youtuibe videos to play in Odyssey? I downloaded getvideo from Aminet and put the files in c:, except the dev files which are in REXX: I set up the settings for Osyssey per the instructions given with getvideo. I go to youtube, right click on a video, and select getvideo from the menu... I get an error indicating "c:getvideo is not executable" Well, the execute bit IS set for getvideo in C:. What is missing?

Try a right click on a video URL or image, the play option should show. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

| In amiga.org has a quite bad claims about this version of MUI.
Funnies part is this :
Quote:
Steven Solie did falsely claimed OS4 will "get MUI 4, like MorphOS already has". |
Just few minits before it was downloadable.

I don´t get why it was so great shock for some MorphOS users. Work on MUI4 for AmigaOS was known for some time. |

There was a "nameless source" wich said to itix that it is just a fork of MUI3.9. After that several people said that it must be illeagal.
What I don't like is comments like this :
Steven Solie did falsely claimed = he is a liar idiots that fell for the Eyetech scam = few thousand people are idiots?
Another problem is statements like this :
Quote:
Of course, they are simply not there, since the internals in OS4 "MUI4" is MUI3.9! | Quote:
So basically, they are calling it MUI4, but their license is for MUI3, and they are patching it to have code compatibility with our version. | Quote:
I knew they had permission to ship MUI 3 with OS4, but doing something like this is different. |
Quote:
We were here before you. We have a better OS. That does invalidate OS4, but our developers are more numerous and more talented.
