@iggy

Ofcourse

But my point is that it doesnt matter who is in what "camp".

With all due respect, every time someone points our who got the bigger camp, "best" developer and
"best/advanced" OS, the threads tend to go downhill

And I praise all developers, regardless of OS, developer language etc. As a code illiterate end user I try to support with money and friendly posts.

Judging by the Fab/browser thread, it seems like the silent majority of users are quite happy with quality program and developers, regardless of where the piece of code originate from.

I don't think users care, not revived one single donation for my work on Basilisk II, and other programs I have made for AmigaOS, over many years I have worked on it.

I think the market is dead, it just Zombies left roaming the forums, fighting over brains.

MorphOS developers are hoping that AmigaOS users are going to migrate to MorphOS, good luck whit that, it does not matter one way or the other, two dead platforms fighting over users who does not care to donate.

+1

I think it's inevitable that both OS4 and MorphOS will die completely at some point. It can be argued all day which will die first but to me it's obvious which one.

When both are dead that will leave AROS for those who still want to pick at the bones of what is left of this market.

Then we will all get even older and die ourselves and there will be no more Amiga market, just the code for AROS sitting on an SVN server getting dusty from lack of activity.

@IntuitionAmiga

AROS is just as dead, forget Amiga/AROS/MorphOS, if you want to get rich.

@NutsAboutAmiga

if you want to get rich you must either use Windows (forget Mac or Linux) or make a "app". Nobody here expects to become rich from what he is doing.

And besides from all "undead" AROS at least offers best chances by supporting different hardware.

Years-end bad mood?

@NutsAboutAmiga

There are few developers who are interested in supporting all TINY markets, can get larget market by sticking to a common GUI system, in reality this developers will do all they can do work around any difference between MUI4 for MorphOS vs AmigaOS4 version or older AROS version of MUI.

I think its great that MUI is updated, and I like thank the developers who worked on it.

Now that MUI 4 is avaliable for OS4. Could Ambient be ported?

wouldn't using mui4 and ambient in os4 constitute 'unfair and parasitic competition' with morphos under German law. ? at the momen it seems os4 is only surviving by relying on morphos for browser/gui toolkit. SSolie should publicly thank morphos devs.

Yeah - and then add Reggae, a new kernel, CGX,...

Why copy when you can have the original?

@cheesegrate

Wouldnt it be smart in a development phase to learn from own expiriences and drawn from outside
knowledge and developements?

Reinventing the wheel each time you design a car doesnt seem very efficient.

@cheesegrate

Ambient is open source, so it does not have to be bundled with OS4, relieving us of that issue.

And as to OS4, MorphOS, or AROS dying, I just do not see that happening.
All seem to be gaining users.

Ambient is a desktop replacement, in the past we have dopus5, scalos, pOS... And workbench is still here; why have to be different with Ambient?

Reggae maybe but what is wrong with P96? or with OS4 kernel?

Reinventing the wheel not, but reinventing the engine, the chassis, the controls, etc, are made every day in automotion and is what makes the automotive industry evolves

Personally, I like the way it functions, with Scalos taking a distant second, and Workbench not in the running.
But with MUI4, Ambient is a likely port, so arguing over it isn't relevant.

"Reggae maybe" - ha!, "slowly I turn..."

@ NutsAboutAmiga

What's with the dust mite?

MUI4, Ambient, CGX, Reggae and OWB is evil MorphOS stuff.
Reaction, Workbench, Datatypes and Timberwolf are for AmigaOS-4.

Which had less in common with the OWB in question than Sputnik...

I don't understand why you take it negatively.... PPC sucks () so we must compensate it in the software
