The Prisma is best described as a music card, not a sound card. It does CD-quality stereo audio from a data stream (compressed or uncompressed).
It is not a retargetable audio card like the Prelude or Delfina. |

Sound like change the target lets say from Paula to AHI, but that not how it works. Software has to support AHI, to use it at least thats how it is done whit out hacks.

Yes its more then a sound card, it can also do compressed audio. Maybe way they call it a music card.

Of course the software mixer will provide more channels, but I mean in hardware. Software mixing will slow things down rather...

Okay I see. yes software mixing is not optimal and I don't like it. It goes against original Amiga principles. But unfortunately I don't think AHI has any support for hardware mixing, which is what it should really be doing on an Amiga.
The only thing close I have seen is the AHI Paula driver using the hardware channels to output and restricted to four channels. |

| Any news about the card and the software?
When will it be available for preorder? I really would like one in my A1200. |
