Octamed?

Yep, I saw that too, second time it's been mentioned recently.
Love to see that app developed for NG and classics.

Think I may need to put some cash aside

@Rudei and OlafS25

The only thing I can imagine would be better on OctaMED SoundStudio than on MilkyTracker would be MIDI support and the fact that OctaMED SS can handle 64 tracks instead of 32. I used to use OctaMED SoundStudio 1.03c on my MicroA1 using the Maestrix commodity to patch the MaestroPro playback library through AHI for native mixing. It works ok as is but the Gadtools GUI is as ugly as it's ever been.

Unfortunately SoundStudio is the only version of OctaMED known to support graphics cards of any sort. Many classic users find the system-friendly GUI of SoundStudio to be clunky and fiddly compared to the simpler OctaMED 4 GUI. I haven't tried OctaMED 5 though, it may be a good compromise between the two versions.

LOL. Think it's a bit late for that. Though it is plausable to sidegrade to another retro platform. Those 8x 16-bit tracks with MIDI are tempting.

What about how MilkyTracke runs in a Half size Workbench window with no menus and a Topaz 8 saize font. That's terrible! On OS4 maybe but trying to be ProTracker in modern times is a no-no. I should be able to see the interface without a magnifier.

I'll be happy when OMSS-NG is out as I am sick of those stuttering bugs I never got around to fixing in The Maestrix!

I don't recall putting a GUI into The Maestrix.

A plain MUI install in my A1200 looks no different to GadTools. But at least you can change the font. Which is important when you are using screen size greater than 640x256.

Number 5 broke the mold and went GadTools. Yes number 4 had character. And I thought it was trendy. But it's also stuck in the time of static screen sizes. And when menus were optional.

@Hypex

The Maestrix stutters could be easily fixed by going into the OMSS mixing prefs and setting the buffer size to 1024 bytes or bigger instead of the default setting.

On MilkyTracker, have you tried going into the Config panel and setting the screen resolution and font size to something other than the default settings? It works on my Mac just fine. I haven't dug out my MicroA1 for months though so maybe SDL has changed since I last used it.

@Samurai_Crow

I have my OMSS mix buffer set to 3000. It's fine until I go to another screen or back to Workbench and click something then it starts.

I hadn't tried config settings in MT. Just tried then and I got it full screen but it has a custom screenmode setter. I had to enter my native mode manually which had no effect so gave up on it. The interface is colourful to an extent but gets a but useless without supporting AmmigaOS 2 features.
