Oh good then, you just confirmed it. Everyone can relax now- we don't need to port ADOM to OS4.
I came across a very old Roque-like game, Hack, which is one of the simplest of its kind, but can still be fun.
Larn is also simple, but can be fun until you get bored of it. It has graphics too, rather than just ASCII characters._________________ SEX SUX

Just to express my humble opinion...I really disliked ASCII characters years ago but nowadays, when the games are more complex and developers learnt to use coloured letters, it's probably better to use ASCII than little GFX blocks. Heck, I'm not even sure it the tileset I put into Ang/ZAng/ToMe archives works as well on every variant since they are so different games.
Sigh, another issue to be tested...
And I really would love to see native ADOM but I'm not sure if the developers are willing to let me see the sources...On the other hand, if I remember right, they promised to release the sources at some point. |

| @Nethackers:
Today, after fierce fights with ancient makefiles, I got a very experimental port of Nethack 3.4.3 running. I need some betatesters, so please send me mail or something and I'll try to prepare an archive before weekend. Thank you.

I have compiled a version of Angband with 'borg' support. (The Angband borg is an automatic computer controlled player.) I'll upload it if anyone is interested in it.
Kind regards,

Why not, it won't hurt anyone?
Meanwhile I have bugfixed and recompiled my ports with newlib.
There is a small bug (but fatal) in original Angband code. ObtainBestPen() misses the last parameter, TAG_DONE. Thanks to Stephan Rupprecht, it's fixed now. That caused DSI when trying Public screen. Last edited by Mr_Capehill on 09-Dec-2004 at 07:32 PM.

| @Interested:
I have finally submitted the updated versions of Angband and ZAngband to OS4Depot. They may be available soon. I hope they work better with public screen setup
ToME is waiting for updated sources, they are releasing 2.3.1 soon.
These versions use newlib.library instead of clib2, too.
A tip for those who prefer custom screen: use GetModeID or similar to find the ID of your favourite screenmode and use that in your user/settings.prefs. Last edited by Mr_Capehill on 15-Dec-2004 at 10:04 PM.

| Since this thread already existed I did not see a need to start another.
I dloaded Hellband and got the getmodeid hint from this thread to set screen.mode in user/settings.prf
I found this file on aminet: 65652 GetHexModeID.lha util/cli 7K 150+GetModeID version with hex output
I have a problem with the game though. Everything is OK during character creation. But after character creation it sits to high and to the left in my screen so that I cannot read the first line. As if it is starting at -10 -10 Is there a setting to fix this?

Hi,
I haven't tried Hellband yet but do the other variants work?
What about public screen mode?
What are you screenmode specs?
Have you altered any other settings? |

During character generation, the first column and the first couple of lines are empty, so you won't notice the problem then. Hellband only uses one screenmode for evrything. You probably need to re-adjust the settings on your monitor to see the first line and column of the screen. If that does not work, you can change the position of the main window in the settings.prf file (make sure it still fits on the screen).
Kind regards,
Dennis |

Guys, is there a way where/how to store/report/display bugs to you apart from a simple mail or a post in this thread? A site would be handy I think? |

Turned out to be operator error.
Today it worked great. I can only imagine that I never did get the workbench screenmode in sync with the modeid in settings. How or why is beyond me but with a clear head today it all works. Thanks for the support. It got to me to look at it again.

I don't have a website right now, and I don't have plans for one either. I wouldn't have the time to maintain it properly. Sorry. If you find a bug in something I ported, send me an e-mail. I'll try to fix it then.
Kind regards,

Okay then. Just to be sure, yours work is the Borg version of Angband and nothing else curently, right?
Need to sort this out before sending anything to any of you.
@Mr_Capehill
How Denis Z. can be contacted regarding bugreport? I have a report regarding CatH-Angband. He is responsible for exactly and only KAngband and CatH-Angband, right? |

So far I ported:
Angband with Borg support CatH-Angband Hellband KAngband
> How Denis Z. can be contacted regarding bugreport?
I'm Dennis Z. My e-mail adress can be found in the 'ReadMeFirst.txt' file that is in the archives you downloaded and also in my AmigaWorld user profile. Question, remarks and bugreports about stuff I ported are welcome.
Kind regards,
Dennis |
