>the 10m² already house two other Amigas, a PS2, a 32" Widescreen CRT TV, a bed, a table, a large storage cabinet, five years worth of university textbooks, a DVD movie collection, and a sizeable PS2 games collection, to mention a few things.

And you are a student ? Must be a very well payed college you're going to

When I was studying I was happy to affort a 100 euro moped.... Oh, and a ZX-spectrum... 48K that is !!

Cheers,

Martin

@Metalheart

Without some extra hardware, I doubt it. I seem to recall that decoding MP3 audio was hard enough on a 50MHz '030. So if you get a CDTV to play MP3's, it won't be the work of the 7MHz CPU on the motherboard.

But who cares? It can play Lemmings!

@Metalheart

I was a student. Just graduated, I now have a master's degree in computer technology.

As for money, well, I actually am reasonably wealthy these days, but I've managed to get by pretty well for the last five years as well. The student's loan and scholarship actually stretches far enough, if you have a cheap apartment (like I have), and don't spend anything on cigarettes and alcohol (again, like me).

It's a question of having you priorities straight:
New clothes - redundant
New games - essential
Parties - redundant
Gadgets - critical
Transportation - needs already covered by built-in bipedal capabilities, redundant
Larger TV - extremely important

And so on...

@Kay

Decoding MP3s at full quality requires a 060. A 040/40 can't do it but you can get some half-decent quality out of it too (these days full quality would be what you'd want though).

If the CDTV gots a parallel port one of these... don't remember the name but... hardware decoders could perhaps be added? I'm sure you know what I meen.

Anyway, it wasn't created with that in mind so... It's nice for some karaokee as well. Got any singin talents?

That's really nice, I almost got myself one a few years ago, but I was to late.. That stupid f*ck gave it away to the mechanic who came to install his PC

Similar story here, I phoned up an advert in the local paper. There was a guy who had one lying around unused for years, but when I phoned he said he changed his mind about selling it for a £10 and gave it to his grandkids to play music cds on Wahhh so sad to see it go to a couple of kids who won't treat her right.

I had one plugged into my A1200, to function as a MP3 jukebox

Just wondering if the CD player can read CDR(W)s....

I have one hooked-up to a 27" TV. I've had it since 1991, and still working.

@amigamad

Oh, a hard-disk controller would be great . Probably next to impossible to get hold of these days, though. You should count yourself lucky.

@hotrod

Why, I'm an excellent singer. Well, maybe not so much excellent as loud. But at least I'm a sober singer, which tends to give me an edge in karaoke-situations.

@BobC

Thanks mate. It's nice to finally have some time to participate here again. Don't think I will be very active the coming week, though. I'm currently at home, so I'm ecperiencing the joy of ISDN internet connections.

Now, if THAT sound doesn't cheer you up everytime, you are dead inside.

@AmigaClyde

I'm impressed. I don't think your CDTV could have found a better home.
