Hardware, what'd they say about the hardware? Someone said they heard something mumbled about another board supplier... does this mean "Eyetech" found a new board supplier, or "Hyperion and whomever else is involved" found a new board supplier indipendant of Eyetech? Will it be cheaper than the current models? What chipset does it use?

I'll let the Friedens answer this in detail, but yes there was new hardware confirmed and an announcement should come in a few weeks regarding this.

Official AmiGBG pictures

Yep, spelling is correct

And yes, those are the ones I've taken, trying to live up to my fine title of official AmiGBG photographer.

Apart from the 169 that are up there at this moment, I'm expecting the last lot of around 30-35 (?) to be put online ASAP, those are the ones from the Sunday outing. See Shoe getting thwarted by Martin Wolf's wife Claudia (in air-hockey), and Olegil "winning" a tiger.

I do intend to make a section on my own web site with a subset of these pictures and some comments as usual; this should happen some time during the week.

But any and all comments you guys might have are most welcome on the AmiGBG Gallery pages. There are comments fields below each picture. And I'll make sure to read them and get inspired

Best regards,

Niels

Hi jahc,

I was disillusioned about the future of Amiga more than a few times (but would NEVER EVER sell MY AmigaOne), but it really really looks like that it WILL succeed!!!!!!!

IF we could be about $1,400 US (complete system) AND have a G5/970 @ 2.5 GHz and a socket for a second G5/970 and AOS goes 64 bit SMP, we will have NO problems getting to 1% of the market. And, that's all we need to stay a going concern!!!!

I hope that Uncharted, Bobsonsirjonny, and DruidPoet come back (and some others).

There *will be* another 20 or so pictures online tonight on http://samface.mindrelease.net/gallery for you to download and put up on amigbg.com if you like. I just haven't had time to put them online yet because I've had to work since the day after the event.

Sorry that I never got the chance to say hi to you guys. If I had only had the time to stay for dinner, I would've been more than happy to offer you a free beer.

Congratulations on your award, BTW. It was well deserved.

@Atheist

1% would be so much more than enough. I think Ben Hermans once made the estimate that 5000 AmigaOne/AmigaOS4 consumers would be enough to provide for a self-sustainable market. 1% of the entire ITindustry would be like what, 1,000,000 consumers?

@samface

1% is much more than that .. about 2 million or so i guess.

the IT world has exploded the last 5 years ;)

anyway if we get 20.000 true worshippers then we have a nice market and the possiblility to change the world as we know it (by getting expensive liscenses etc)

Just thought I'd mention for those of you who missed the free CD's with Protracker 2.3d BETA that was handed out by one of the porters, Olle on this site, the archive has now been put online at here for your pleasure.

What was handed out on the show was an entire CD filled with music modules, samples and lots of nice tidbits, but what is released online is the pure Protracker program.

Enjoy!
