@number6

My understanding about audio Ethernet problem is that, AnigaOnes have problem handling lots of interrupts at same time, DaveAE some how adjusted the number of interrupts from SoundBlaster, and the crashes stopped, now if the SIL controller generates lots of interrupts to, some how compete whit AUDIO and Ethernet then the result can end in a lockup.

I think I wait until problem is fixed, too insert my SIL3112ACT144 chip in to my nice AmigaOne

hmmmm.... still no crash...
maybe it has something to do with disk access?... i am using the a SIL card and the latest drivers and the latest drivers... but an mp3 file is read from the HD while a SID is played from ram ... hmmmm ....

the disk is used as i am downloading ... but ... still ... i'll leave it like this for 2 hours, and then I'll try playing mp3's from ram..

i am using mpega.library 2.4 here, if that could be the source of the problem?
i think it's the libmad one.

True. Radeon 7000 in Micro is affected by this too. Perhaps other Radeon. Dunno.
I asked in a thread. Didn't hear back yet.

Edit(Correction):Seems he -did- respond:

@DaveAE

Why are you always sleeping when I'm awake and vice versa?

@Spotup

I was going to suggest you speak with @Snuffy, who iirc was using ac97.
But it seems @Snuffy has reported his machine going "belly up" today.
I suggest an AW search for "ac97" or similar to turn up other users of this to
converse with, in case none of them notice this thread.

Same here. That's not the source of the problem.

haha... my a1 crashed for another reason just now... but it ran very fine while playing sids, downloading a 600mb iso, browsing, running dnetc, chatting in wookie for a about 30mins, i have never been able to do that while playing mp3s.

so this is what i am testing now, i am running dnetc and playing mp3's from RAM: .... so far so good, it's been playing 2 tunes now, and it's still playing, i haven't been able to do this the last week while testing. seems like i might be closer to the solution.

maybe there's something wrong with my SFS installation, or the SIL card is acting up... hmmm.... it seems the probs are related to reading from the hd, not writing to it as downloading is was OK...

i'll leave it playing and crunching dnetc keys for a while now and see.

seems you might be right about it being hd or sil related, still playing fine, when playing mp3's from ram: ... promising.

When speculating of SIL problems; what speed are you using?
I have an UATA100 and one UATA133 disk but I run both at UATA100 to be sure.

I used to have problems with audio+ethernet but for some reason I haven't had such a lockup for month. non since upd4. I'm now determined to stream music using ANR until it locks up. Hasn't happen yet but then I've only streamed for two days so far... but it usually only lasted for a couple of hours before.

@spotUP

I do not experience such crashes, most crashes are AFAIK due to some bad behaving old sw (IBrowse topmost). Relevant keywords: nofix-A1, G3, PIO hard disk, Simpleplay, IB2.3, onboard ethernet.

Back when the AC97 drivers were released, I used those for a while without problems. I didn't want to buy an extra audio cable though and have switched back to using my Terratec 512i card.

@Deniil715

I don't know what speed I am using, this is exactly what I was gonna check now.
I suspect that i might be running at to high speed.
I just returned to my AmigaOne, it's still up and kicking. =)
dnetc running, and one album with mp3's played without probs (from ram).

to sum it all up;

soundcard excluded.
heat excluded.
memory excluded.

gotta check that sil/ide speed thingie, feeling hopefull... :)

edit: here's the output from idetool;

idetool -u sii0680ide.device 0
-------------------Unit 0 information------------------------
Flags : $00000185 - present, supports DMA, ATA, supports cache flush, interrupts used,
Xfer mode : best pio 12 (PIO 4, 16 MB/s) / best dma 69 (UDMA 5, 100 MB/s) / current 69 (UDMA 5, 100 MB/s)
Total blocks : 241254720
Blocksize : 512
Power mode : 2 / idle (ready for operation)
IO1 / IO2 / BMCR @ : $802400 / $80240A / $802420

now where was that guide on changing speed...

@Deniil715

OK, i switched to the slowest DMA mode (25mb), and so far MP3's are playing fine from the HD! =) Played 2 tunes so far, so it's not sure at all yet, but I think this might be it.

->"I'm using a Zalman VF700-Cu LED now (instead of the Swiftech MCX159R)

Why? My OEM Sunon cpu fan went dead on my A1-XE/G4 and I'm shopping
for new cooler system.

Check the original audio thread. Playing from RAM isn't really an ideal test, nor does it eliminate the interrupt issue. If you want to check that thoroughly, suggest using new advised roadshow settings, then download multiple ISOs (i generally did 3-5 for the audio testing thread/problems) while playing mp3 either from disk or RAM.

If THAT doesn't cause problems, then you can eliminate the previous sound/network issue pretty definitively.

The Zalman is a bit more quiet. Also it looks cool ... I can't tell if it's cooler or not though.

I've forgotten that I've changed the harddrive too... I switched the harddrive with the one that I used for Linux. Both are ATA 100 HDs runing at ATA 100 speed on a sii 0680 controller. Don't know if that could be a reason for why it doesn't crash any more.

FWIW since before my original post in this thread, I haven't seen any problems either. I haven't changed anything, but I haven't done any major testing either.
